I don’t know about you, but when I was a kid, my little valentine shoebox mailbox was stuffed with paper, maybe the occasional lollipop. But parents these days are upping the ante, so we hope we can make your life a little easier by giving you some ideas and some free printable valentines.
I found a four pack of playdough at the Dollar Spot at Target, making them $0.25 each. Print out the printable valentine in either blue/orange or red/pink (click links to download), cut out along the gray lines, fold in half and staple over a baggie containing the playdough. You can also make your own using this playdough recipe.
If you prefer, you can use a circle punch to slide the tub of playdough onto the the card instead of using it as a bag topper (as pictured above). Also, my trick for creating colored staples? Color the tops of the staples with a permanent marker before loading them into your stapler.
I also found the cute owl clips at the Dollar Spot (two in a pack so $0.50 each), but you could easily add an owl sticker or something else instead. The owl is so popular these days, there’s no shortage of owl-themed items! I just printed out the printable “you’re a hoot” valentine (click link to download), cut them out and attached the clip.
Have a happy Valentine’s Day!
