Design Reveal: Boy’s Nursery with Modern Pop

It’s that time again—we have another nursery design to reveal to the Project Nursery readers! This Orange County client asked for a nursery for her little boy that was simple, modern and colorful.

We decided on a color palette of cobalt blue, canary yellow, white and dove gray; after that, things started to fall into place. A dark wood sleigh crib and an elegant rocking chair from Restoration Hardware are showcased against soft gray walls. A bold cobalt stripe behind the crib creates height and an element of surprise.

One of our favorite elements of this nursery is the wood starbursts over the crib—with one white and one yellow, they help pull together the whole space.

The little boy who lives here loves to play with cars, trains and airplanes, so we made sure to incorporate those themes in the artwork throughout the space. A few well-placed toys add sophistication.

We finished off the design with modern textiles—we found a wonderful set of gray and white chevron crib bedding with yellow accents.

And a huge thanks, yet again, to Full Spectrum Photography for taking our fabulous photos.

Where did you find the darling car artwork?

What is the paint color used in this room, both the blue and the gray?

I love the room, very clean and fresh.

Where did you get those starbursts? Are they DIY or did you get them from a shop?

I wish I knew where they got that rug! I have been looking everywhere for a yellow and white striped area rug that is NOT flat woven!

Starbursts? I didn’t know they’re called that. But anyway, like what I said in my gallery comment, they do pull the entire room together and are the most dominant design element here.
