Oscar Night Party

Description

My daughter's birthday is in February and the Oscars are around the same time.  She wanted to have her friends over for a movie night so we turned it into an Oscar Night Party.

Design Inspiration

We uses the colors red, black, and gold and the gold Oscar statue...

Decorating Style

My style is eclectic....I like contemporary, comfortable, vintage, and a little French country

Project Details

I sent an evite out that asked the kids to vote for their favorite movie and the winner (movie with the most votes) was viewed the night of the party.  I purchased a remnant piece of red carpet for the kids to walk up the driveway.  I had my husband and two friends be the paparazzi taking pics and one of them was a Poloriod so the kids got to take a pic home.  I made a signature cocktail, Shirley temples for the party with a dinner of golden mac and cheese with chicken fingers. I also made all the cupcakes and cake.  I purchased the fondant shooting stars from ModernLuxe, the cupcake toppers came from Charynn at Two Sugar Babies, the custom designed white chocolate dipped oreos cam from Sweeties by Kim and the "swag bags" came from Perideau Designs.  We also had a popcorn bar with three different types of popcorn to choose from. The fab ladies of Icing Designs made the sweets garland and personalized placecards.

Advice

This party was a labor of love, but I started early and just gathered things as I went along.  All the props were bought on sale from Party City.  Don't be afraid to do soem of the elements yourself.  Making th ecake and cupcakes and just getting the decor made it more cost effective.  I bought the swag bag items at Five below and the Dollar Store.  Have fun with it!
