Stars & Stripes Re-purposed: A Superhero Party

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!  I absolutely love the 4th – the fireworks, the festivities, the color palette…  It’s patriotic, it’s preppy and it just reeks summer to me.  So instead of pulling down your stars and striped decorations today, re-purpose them and throw your kids a superhero party!

Take those paper lanterns, star banners, and leftover stripe napkins and pull together a quick summer party for your kids and their friends (you will, for sure, be the coolest mom on the block!).  I love this invitation from Tiny Prints!  Perfect for showcasing a picture of your little caped-crusader!  These felt wristbands from etsy.com would also make fabulous napkin rings!  Now all you need are a few fabulous treats….

A few simple touches can add a whole lot of impact when it comes to treats!  Add a chocolate star atop your cupcakes, or make red, white and blue striped ice pops for a fun treat on a hot day!  You can also cut a lightening bolt out of lemon peel and insert it a glass of punch for a little extra POW!

This was my son’s theme a few months ago. We bought a lot of new pillow cases and let the kids decorate them with glitter and glue. They made for great capes!
