Giveaway: Art That Makes You Smile

Just one look at “George the Silly Sparrow” by Etsy shop, Isabell’s Umbrella and I want to swoop him up and keep him safe in my child’s room for a rainy day.

“George loves to make people smile – it is what he does best. Based off of one of my favorite illustrations, this little guy will brighten any space. George is perfect at spreading happiness” – Ashley . Created by hand with felt, George measures approx. 2.5″ and is enclosed in a wonderful shadow box frame (5.5″ off-white). The frame can stand by itself or hang on a wall (including hardware).

Graphic Designer by day and doodler by night, owner Ashley Giessing has created a line of stationary with the magic to clear the clouds on a rainy day and revitalize the lost art of handwritten correspondence. We wholeheartedly agree with Ashley when she says “There is nothing that means more to me than a kind, heartfelt, handwritten note from someone I love”. Here’s a peek into her sweet stationary designs.

To learn out more about Ashley’s recent work, check out her blog.  To make Silly George the Sparrow a part of your life and room decor…

1. Share with us the last time you took the time and energy to hand write someone a sweet note. Or, let us know if you were on the receiving end of this kind gesture. And okay, if you have been inspired to hand write a note because of George and this post – that counts too!

2. For extra credit, subscribe to Project Nursery via email for our daily postings and your name will be entered twice.

3. A winner will be selected at random using www.random.org

The first entry never wins a giveaway.

But I am here so I am going to enter. I hand write letters every three weeks to a little girl I sponsor in Haiti. Her name is Olphine and she is almost nine years old. You can read more about her on my blog: http://queenoftheclick.com/?p=150 Ashley has a lot of beautiful cards and address labels in her shop.

I used to write a few people letters, but they passed away. I send cards every month to friends, but they e-mail or text me and say thanks for your note. It’s a shame letter writing has dwindled down so much. I love e-mail, but there is something special about regular mail.

First of all what a gorgeous blog–kudos to you. The last notes I wrote were for my daughter’s 3rd b-day. She received so many lovely gifts. A special handwritten note went to my mom who baked 2 dozen cupcakes with pink icing.

p.s. thanks for entering my crayola contest at http://momtrends.blogspot.com/

Oh he is just too cute! I’ve actually written lots of thank you notes after just having another baby girl in May… there are still several people on my list, it’s just so hard to get it done! It’s so important though, and I LOVE getting old-school mail, whether it’s invites, thank-yous, announcements, all of it! :)

I always write a heartfelt note to my daughters teachers for Christmas and end of the year. I am truly grateful for all the effort they put into making my daughter who she is now and I know that they appreciate the note as much as the gift or even more.

I just finished writing a note to my “grandma” Ruth. She’s not related, but she lived across the street from my grandma all her life. When my grandma died, she sort of took us in, helped us make a memory garden for her, and just took over being a grandma. Now that I am older I am so grateful for the relationship I have with her, that I love writing her letters. Her are amazing, so she still has something to teach me!

I try to keep up with writing notes and sending pictures of my daughter to relatives that live too far away to see her grow up in person. The last time I did one was to my aunt and when she called to thank me I felt so glad that I had brightened her day. Reminds me that it’s probably time to send out a couple more!

The last time I wrote a handwritten note was YESTERDAY!!! I wrote my son’s summer school teacher a handwritten note thanking her for all she did for my son at school (multi-sensory class). She was an excellent teacher and I wanted to let her know that. I also plan on writing (yes, handwriting!) a note to the principal too letting her know how wonderful the teacher is.

Thank you for an ADORABLE giveaway!

We have wonderful friends who named their 4 year old daughter after ours, and who honors us by teaching her about “Angel Sarah”. Little Sarah “wrote” us a note (well, her mom wrote the note, but Sarah painted the picture) to tell us a story about how Angel Sarah watches over her from heaven AND says that she (little Sarah) should have a new pet! We write a special note to her once a month to surprise her with a story about our Sarah that goes along with a little gift for her.

I created a thank you note to my in-laws and my grandma-in-law to thank them for the beach trip they took us on. The impressive part is not that I made it or wrote it, it’s that I actually mailed it! That’s the hard part for me.

Last week I sent a nice thank you card to a lady I had met on Ebay. She sold me some gift certificates that apparently were only good for her TX local restaurant, not the whole state. Since I was heading to another part of TX, she apologized and asked me to send the items back & she would refund my money. Instead, I took a chance and sent more money and asked her to get me a gift card to Sonic (none in my area) and she did. I was really happy with her honesty and sent her a card to let her know! micaela6955 at msn dot com

I wrote to tell Chad who proud I am of him for starting football. He has been so excited for the practices to begin. I try very hard to keep in touch with him and his sisters. We miss them a lot!
