Babt Boy, Son’s Nursery. Barnwood came from family farm of multi-generations.
Birds, hatching, nesting… I have long yearned for this little one! In my research, I study how the environment affects babies (and all ages), and thus have been planning this nursery for the last 10 years. It is exciting to finally make it a reality! We want baby Rem to cultivate a relationship with nature and grow in a serene and peaceful setting. My dad (Thomas) and I had so much fun building the DIY pieces.
This room is a result of lots of love and inspiration. I wanted something rustic, but modern, with a few vintage and whimsical touches.
As we are lucky enough to have a playroom elsewhere in the house, our boys’ bedrooms (see also Jesse’s Rustic Vintage DIY Boy Nursery) were intended to be spaces where they can enjoy some quiet time: reading, dressing, sleeping, hanging out. That said, we used to have a rug in here, but the floor has become such a transformative space for play and imagination that the rug now lives beneath a tepee in the playroom and the floor is bare so that it can be covered in whatever ‘worlds’ our children decide to make.
Bold blue walls and bedding, neutral furniture and eclectic decor make for a fun but sophisticated modern nursery.
The theme of Seba’s room is that there is no theme. We took a collection of things old and new, bought and made — and put them all together to make a castle for our Prince! To see more on my blog
