I wanted something modern and not something you don’t see every day. I found two graffiti artists here in Austin who were willing to do pieces for me. I based everything around their work. One piece is a baby DJ spinning records, so my bedding is hi-fi stereo equipment with teal and black accents. I framed and added some pictures of animals with boom boxes that I found online. Put up some skateboard shelves and boom…Jameson had a room.
C is for Copeland! His nursery is a colorful, creative, cozy, Craigslist furnished, chalkboard walled compilation of new and old pieces that form a great room for sleep and play.
Charlene and Chris began fixing up the nursery before their first son Matteo was born. They painted the walls a light shade of gray, refinished the original hardwood floors, and purchased the basic furniture as well as a glider and ottoman. They also brought in their old full-sized bed for Grandma who stays occasionally to help with the baby. But after their baby was born, the room remained half finished with no theme, bare walls, and baby stuff piled in the corners and on top of furniture. Eight months later I was brought on to reorganize and bring much-needed style to the room they first envisioned for their nursery.
My husband and I moved into our rental three months before Westley’s due date. The challenge – how to inject our personal style without painting the walls or doing anything permanent to the room.
