Small room

My little man’s nursery has been the perfect little nest to cuddle, sleep and play in! It’s aqua walls with grass green and brown accents provided us with a soothing, warm yet airy environment in a very small space. Most of the pieces were DIY’d by my husband or me!
Now, my little man is not so little and we’ve transitioned him to a bigger room with a camping theme. (Hence, the toddler bed instead of a crib. I added back the changing pad to show what it was like back when he was little). This room will get a gentle makeover soon for baby boy #2.
Finally getting the pics posted here is my way of saying goodbye to this lovely little room!

With our first child, Chase, I had preterm labor and was on bed rest.  Chase ended up coming three weeks early.  So, I never really got to put his nursery together the way I wanted.  However, any pieces we bought for the nursery I tried to make sure it would work for either a boy or girl as we planned on having a second child.  About two months after Chase turned one, we found out we were expecting.  When we found out it would be a girl, I wanted to make sure this time around I would have everything ready.  This wasn’t too lofty of a goal since they would be sharing a room.  This is actually their second room since we recently moved back to Southern California from San Francisco.  This room is actually a lot smaller than the one they had in San Francisco.  However, it helped me pare down all their things and focus on key pieces for the room.

Used pastel colors and bird accents to design our baby girl’s nursery.

This project had a strict budget so most of the items were DIY. I did not want her nursery to have a theme, because I am always changing things! The room was small so I tried not to go overboard with a lot of different colors and focused on small details for character. I hope it is a room she grows up to love! :)

I wanted a nice, light and peaceful room for our little girl who was due to be born in Summer. I started early as we were fairly budget-conscious and wanted a beautiful room, for a fraction of the price!

I wanted my baby girls room to be calm, cute, but not too girly. I love the way it turned out! (Sorry for the crappy cell-phone detail pics.. already packed my camera away after taking the room pics)

Compact Baby Girls room 

Gray, blush pink and copper, vintage-inspired nursery. Lots of personal/heirloom/hand-made touches throughout.

I had the honor of designing Isaac’s nursery for my great friends Jennifer and Jeff.  They wanted something bright and fun in their small space, but not too baby.  And it had to be a little bit nerdy too. Not many kids have the formula for gravity on their wall! His room really did make me smarter.

This neutral nursery is warm and cozy. Orange and blue are great complimentary colors and the polka dots and animal accents give the room whimsy and charm.

To turn this into a little nursery was not easy..the room is tiny, NY style :) But I must say I love the way it turned out and it has been a fantastic little haven for my little boy, now 2! 

We had a small square room to work with so we used lots of art work and put furniture on angles to make it more interesting.
We used an antique hoosier to store diapers, wipes, lotion etc. and then used the table part as a changing table. We couldn’t find a mobile that we liked so we handmade one. We used framed wrapping paper from his baby shower to use as art work.
We also have a banner on the crib that we made for the baby shower, which we only ended up using for these pictures and took it down once baby was born.

Fun, colorful & modern nursery. White walls are the perfect backdrop for bright pops of color in the furniture, wall art & accessories. A bold blue navy wall helps to give the illusion of depth in the small space. It also makes the white crib pop. This room was created to stand the test of time & not need to be redone once our son is a “big boy”.
