Preppy, Modern Pink & Green Girl’s Room

This preppy girl’s room was inspired by the hot pink cubes.  When I saw them on ebay, I had to have them and design a room around them!  We used Annie Selk fabric with graphic and geometric prints in hot pink and green with hints of blue and red.  The drapes and pillows were custom with the fabric.  The chair is re-upholstered also in Annie Selk fabric and painted white (ebay find).  The dresser and side table are also vintage and have been re-painted.  The lamp is from TJ Maxx and the owl lamp from Target.  Frames from Ikea and canvas storage bins from Pottery Barn Kids.  Duvet cover and euro sham from PB Teen.  Prints from Etsy & deco pillow from etsy.  Please contact me for any other details on sources used for this room.

Sophia’s Vintage Barbie Inspired Birthday Party

For this party, I wanted the dessert table to help capture the children’s imagination just a Barbie does. So, I tried to design it as though it was actually a place in Barbie’s house.  I found the perfect black and white striped fabric, for the background, which called back to Barbie’s original bathing suit. And then I chose a dressing table to display the sweets and used it as inspiration for many of the other elements. First I found the most beautiful corset cookies and chose to stand them up like a wardrobe of gorgeous Barbie dresses and displayed them in and around a jewelry box. I had the cake pops standing up in a make up bag like beautiful lip glosses. And I created a silhouette, inspired by the classic vintage Barbie silhouette, and used it as one of the icons for the party as I designed the paper goods.  To create the “floral” centerpiece for the dressing table, I was lucky enough to find the perfect marshmallow roller pops .  The favor table was laden with fabulous accessories which I was able to find in the Target dollars bins… pearl necklaces, bracelets, flower headbands, gloves and even little purses to hold all the goodies!

Tribeca – Owl Nursery

Interior Designer – EMC2 Interiors in NYC / The mural in this modern owl nursery was painted for twins. It’s neutral and airy. I chose to use the corner space because it’s where your eye is drawn. The height of the ceiling added to the design. It was painted to fit exactly in this space. I loved the fabrics and colors the designer chose. She has wonderful and fresh ideas. On the opposite wall she had built ins with a foldaway bed that doubled as a chalkboard for the kids. The cribs she picked are from designer David Netto.

Twists on a Classic

A classic nursery with attention to unique details combines to create a crisp room fit for a sweet baby boy. The paper airplane wall decal zips across the room to create a sense of whimsy. The white furniture sharply contrasts with the deep hues of the hardwood floors creating a crisp clean feeling. The funky sillhouettes take a playful approach to the family heritage and it’s all tied together with a mint green rug with white polka dots. http://www.maxbentleychronicles.blogspot.com/

Trixie’s Heirloom Nursery

We were so pleased that Elizabeth Brantely, former TV and film production designer and all around dynamo mom, shared her daughter Trixie’s nursery with us. The nursery has a vintage elegance which makes sense considering its inspiration came from a place rich in history: family heirlooms. Many of the elements in the nursery are items from Elizabeth’s great-grandparents. Elizabeth and her husband Steve had a tall order when they set out to remodel the room designated to be the nursery in their 1916 bungalow. After the initial floor work and painting (a color called “Pinkish”) was complete, Elizabeth’s vision was a room centered around three important pieces: a painted chest of drawers, a set of vintage cabbage rose curtains and a rescued iron chandelier. These pieces had sentimental meaning to Brantley and it was important for her to be able to reuse things she loved rather than purchase everything new.
