My husband and I both love things with a modern look and a tiny twist of vintage. When I was pregnant, we had no idea what we wanted to do for the nursery, the only thing we knew for sure was that we didn’t want to go the “traditional baby blue” route. We knew we both loved grey as a neutral and then we ended up adding a few pops of tangerine for fun!
We wanted a girly nursery, for our daughter Bexley; just not pinks and purples!
I’m not a fan of matchy-matchy, so we just pulled fabrics and colors together that we loved and her nursery “theme” was complete!
While remodeling my children’s room and dining room I decided to maximize space and create a space for them to color, create and encourage their creativitiy – a chalkboard door. I noticed that most of my walls were marked up with crayons or markers despite being washable, so I thought this would be a great way to compromise with the kids while saving the walls (the chalk doesnt show on the walls and wipes off easily if it does!). Besides the kids using it I also find myself writing grocery lists, motivational quotes, reminders, and even a reward chart for good behavior I can modify as much as I need. I also love that since the door is dark it really hides away dirt, stains around the knob or scuff marks that usually happen with a lighter door.
Instead of choosing one theme, we decided to fill Jonah’s room with a mix of our favorite things. We wanted a warm and cozy environment for our new little one, but also a room he could grow into.
For Rome’s nursery I wanted a modern and clean look. I chose a neutral grey for the base colors, white for all the furniture, and then added color with fabrics and wall decor. I still need to figure out the shelf arrangement, but I think it’s coming along nicely!
I wanted to create a very colorful room for our baby girl, since I’m a designer and love the theory of colour and how it affects our personality, I thought I would give it a try and see if happy colors equal happy little girl!
Ariella’s nursery is a soothing oasis of coral pink, pale aqua, and bright white, & combines many hand crafted items from artists across the country. The main focal wall stencil behind the crib is a uniquely Moroccan pattern, but when combined with other traditional and vintage shapes, it takes on a whole new style of its own. Custom painted vintage frames hung above the changing table create a second focal point of their own without competing with the main feature wall, and simple details pull the room together for a cohesive look.
Cute silhouette nursery I painted in Atlanta, Ga. This nursery will also transition into a toddler room very easily. I wanted to keep the mood light and carefree. The black silhouettes add a bouyant quality to the room that really has a charming effect. We loved it and hope you all will too!
