I wanted to create a woodland nursery, but wanted it to be more sophisticated and of course gender neutral. I fell in love with gold rub and buff and realized how easy it is to make anything inexpensive look a little more upscale (even plastic!). I was definitely sticking to a tight budget so I DIY’d as much as possible and working in a tiny space for twins.
This is a Pinterest nursery if there ever was one! I took several different ideas that I loved and combined them to create a fun, girly circus theme for our new baby girl, Evia. In the last month of my pregnancy, I was nesting like a mad woman! I ended up making or altering the majority of things in the nursery. To be truthful, it’s now my favorite room in the house…I’m wondering why I haven’t put this much work into the rest of the rooms!

From day one I just knew that I wanted a carnival nursery for my baby girl! My husband and I have always loved carnivals, and in a lot of ways I feel like we are still two big kids so it seemed perfect and fitting to create a fun carnival inspired nursery for our Veda Jane! We had an extremely tight budget to work with so everything you see here was either done by hand or vintage finds that we repurposed! We spent less than $300 on this nursery!
Our baby girl’s room is traditional with a touch of whimsy and fun. We wanted every wall to have an unexpected item and the room to be one she could grow up in.

Kavi’s nursery is a mix of Safari elements I started collecting when we found out we were expecting. At the time I didn’t know the sex so I wanted to keep with color choices that would work for a boy or a girl. We’ve recently moved into a new house and I haven’t had time to paint the walls yet (builders beige is boring I know). I haven’t decided yet on what color it will be. Hmmm…
