Reinvented Rainbow Room

This is not your typical rainbow wall mural! It’s a reinvented rainbow! I have been working on a rainbow themed room for my client’s 2 year old toddler girl. We started with a blank space. From the beginning, we knew we were going to do an accent wall. When we first started, my client wanted to add decals to the wall. Simple, and easy, but not very impactful. Plus, her daughter would grow out of it after a few years. After many discussions, I somehow convinced her to go a bit bolder (or maybe she decided on her own?!). The reinvented rainbow it the focal of the room but there are so many other elements to the room that she can grow into
I upcycled an old Ikea table and chairs from her older siblings. I painted scallops in the same rainbow palette. The made a craft corner that houses her art supplies and her artwork too.
I also painted an ombré watermelon dresser which is another Ikea hack. It was a plain white dresser but with the knobs it adds a whimsical touch!
A reading nook and shelves are also essential to help kids develop a love for reading.
this is a beautiful room that she can grow into for many years!

Girls Room Makeover

The “Before” was a very boring, plain, builder-grade look. The house was built in 2019 and while everything was nice and new, the room had no personality and did not reflect the little girl living in it at all! There was nothing “custom” about the room and it’s likely that everyone who bought a home from our builder had rooms that looked exactly like this one. The room also had very little functionality aside from sleeping! There was little to no storage, no shelving, and no real storage system for toys, books, etc.
We wanted more, and needed more out of this space. We wanted a space that WE could get creative in, but that would also encourage creativity for our little girl! She needed a place she could feel herself in, feel safe in, read in, study in, and just enjoy being home in!
The entire makeover could have been done in one weekend, but it took us about 3-4 weeks simply for delivery or products we had ordered to spruce things up (bedding, rugs, etc.). We chose a kid-friendly bedding that can be made up simply with pull of a zipper! We went with a beautiful and feminine floral peel and stick wallpaper that was not only SUPER easy to apply, but it has all my daughter’s favorite colors!! Then we added some neutral wood toned shelving for aesthetics and storage, a large comfortable egg chair for cozying up with a book, and some floating shelves above the dresser for books and/or pictures. The entire project cost about $750.
We love everything about this project! My daughter was over the moon thrilled when it was finally done and now she enjoys playing, reading, lounging in there all the time!! It’s so pretty and functional now that it’s even inspired her to keep it clean!! Now if that’s not a mom-win, I don’t know what is!!!
I honestly wouldn’t change a thing, well…except I would have done it sooner!!! But my only words of advice would be make sure that whatever wallpaper you choose works with your wall type. For example if you have textured walls, make sure you get a wallpaper that works well on it. This one did for me! The other thing I would add is make sure you choose design elements that are true to YOU!!! You are unique and the room’s personality should reflect yours!

Watercolor Rainbow Nursery

I’ve always loved the idea of a rainbow nursery, but after losing our first pregnancy last year, this theme felt so fitting and perfect for our rainbow baby girl. She has brought so much hope to our lives despite the uncertainty of COVID! This is now my favorite room in the house, and it was honestly a dream come true to put this space together. 🙂 I’m looking forward to spending many hours in here snuggling with our daughter once she arrives in September!
I started designing the room around the rainbow mural, which I made in Adobe Illustrator. The mural is now available for download on Etsy! It turned out even better that way because I could customize the colors and the size to fit the wall! And the project ended up being half the cost – win! From there, I filled in the rest of the space with warm whites, natural textures like woven baskets and bamboo frames, and colors pulled from the rainbow mural.
We decided to skip a changing table and use that space for a daybed instead. My mom will be staying with us for a month after the baby is born, and she’ll be able to sleep in here while the baby sleeps in our room. I think it will also come in handy for long nights so that either my husband or I can catch some sleep while the other parent is up with the baby. I hope we’ll spend many hours of reading books together here, too! 🙂
Since we don’t have a changing table with drawers, I worked hard to maximize the storage space in the nursery closet. It has been nesting headquarters…I can’t even count the number of hours I’ve spent arranging and rearranging things in there! 🙂

Ariella’s 3rd Birthday: An Art Party

My daughter’s favorite activity is to get messy, so I thought what better theme for her 3rd birthday than an Art Party where she and all her friends could go all out and get really messy!  Party goers enjoyed painting small and large canvases, as well as wood and paper craft activities, and artist themed food and drinks.  Attendees were instructed to “dress for mess!”

Rainbowlicious

My Elle-girl just loves rainbows so of course this HAD to happen.  We painted the walls gray and then added all of the rainbow accents.  I made sure to have each color represented in the quilt in every aspect of the room.  All of the quilt colors are on the desk , bedside table, wall and dresser.  My husband painted the blinds to match the quilt as well, and it’s my FAVORITE part!  I am please with the result.  We do plan on adding crown molding at some point so please ignore the bad painting job.  :)

Afro Circus Party!

Inspired by The Movie ” MADAGASCAR 3: Europe’s most wanted”, I created this fun and colourful circus-themed party. The target in this celebration was to make the children feel like if they really were part of the  circus. We set up different game stations, where the children got to roll play different characters, as well as enjoy great games. The smell of popped corn, the circus-themed music and the ticket giving at each station, transported the children to a different place.

Chevron Candyland Inspired Birthday Party

As a mother to three sons, I was ecstatic when my sister-in-law asked me to help with my niece’s Candyland inspired birthday party. As the owner of a little invitation and announcement card shop on Etsy, Tints and Prints by Tierney, I am honored when family and friends ask for my help. I created an entire DIY Party Package of printables for this adorable Candyland theme party. And pairing Candyland with bright chevrons updated the classic childhood game with a modern design obsession of mine…chevrons! And if you know me well, I can’t get enough of chevrons, whether in my own home or in my card designs.

Rainbow Playdate Party

What does a play group of seven colorful little sweethearts do to celebrate the end of summer? A Rainbow Party of course! I was so excited to be a part of this fun event for a Mommy & Me playgroup we belong too. The creative mom’s thought it would be fun to have each girl represent a color in what has to be the cutest rainbow ever…even if they did end up a tad bit out of order! The dessert stand was complete with a “Rainbows 5 cents” sign, printable banner, and a cute fabric banner I created to top it off. Each girl had a colorful jar of Skittles with their name & coordinating rainbow color. A candy scoop adorns a tag reading “Taste the Rainbow” inviting each guest to create they’re own take-home rainbow treat bag.The confetti cake was topped with a charming cake topper by the fabulous Debra of Titi’s Tutu’s, the original creator of Pom Cake Toppers! I was browsing through Debra’s Etsy shop and saw her adorable pom creations and just knew I had to have one in all the colors of the Rainbow! So in love with the topper she created for us – I can’t say enough about how cute it is! Be sure and take a peek in her shop for all her adorable creations!
