Fun and Functional Playroom
I wanted to create a neutral gender space. It had to be fun, joyful and at the mean time stimulate kids imagination and creativity. It’s also a very easy to achieve project, on a budget with minimal DIY.

When we moved into our house a year and a half ago I didn’t have much time to decorate the playroom, and over time it became a mish-mash of color, stuff, and kid clutter. Recently I revamped it with some paint, fabric, new storage, and new play zones (pretend, reading, legos etc.). All of the details can be found on my blog, http://namesakedesign.blogspot.com/2011/05/this-summer-i-plan-to-tackle-four.html.
The room was designed for my son Kix Atticus. We are a soccer family and Kix is OBSESSED with anything “ball”. I painted the soccer mural background and the triptych canvas paintings. We kept everything low cost with shelving and dresser storage from Ikea. The locker nightstands were purchased through KidKraft. The soccer bed was handmade by Kix’s PawPaw. He loves to show off his “big boy” room! Designing your kid’s space? Need modern art? Check out my Etsy page to order your custom canvas artwork! You name it, I’ll paint it! http://www.etsy.com/people/sassyfred8?ref=pr_profile
This is our breakfast nook turned into a playroom. I had big plans for this space. Unfortunately, when the economy took a hit last year, so did my furniture/shopping budget. Sooo Ikea came to the rescue. It’s been so great, I would hate to change it now simply because it’s so functional and fun.
