Dusty Mint Nursery

Welcome to My special Room in the house for my baby Boy who was delivered to this world on February 4th, 2017.
I had a lot of fun designing this room, I wanted to create something special for my baby boy, but I also wanted it to blend with the rest of my house style and be functional for both baby & Mommy. I really like mixing styles and creating a contemporary transitional space that will last for a long time. I am also keen on creating spaces that have neutral palettes where I can add a touch of “NEW” color/texture to at anytime.
The main inspiration of this room, which was the main starting design point was the little sheep foot stool. I knew from the moment I found it that it’s the perfect theme “Whimsical Zoo Nursery” I imagined the stool to be used as a foot stool, ottoman/seating and something to stand on when needing to reach high shelves in the baby’s closet.
I was very particular picking the major pieces in the room, as those were the main neutrals that will serve a purpose, make a statement and can be of multi use:
I went with this high back vintage wood look crib with cream bars and frames, its not only neutral for the baby bedroom, but it is also the perfect fit into my home style. I was determined on selecting a crib that can grow with my baby, and this one was a 3 in 1 choice that will live with us for a long time.
One of my favorite pieces in this nursery is the Daybed trundle, not only for the classic tufted look and detail of it, but also for the function that it will serve. I have customized the bottom trundle pullout to be used as storage for all baby items/toys, and I am sure I will be using the top bed for sleep, story time or just to lay down with my baby.
Another thing that was on my list for my dream nursery was a rocking chair. I have picked a neutral one that matches the trundle with a classic tufted back, which was just the right size to fit into the petite dimensions of the nursery. Hopefully, this will be a great place to Nurse, read books and relax with my baby.
I love putting a touch of hand made customized items into my designs ‘Air balloon ceiling Lamp’. This Lamp creates a central focal point in the room and is very playful, yet whimsical. It creates a unique combination of the Zoo theme, and the Air Balloon adventure.
In the room I’ve gone for 1 accent wall with wallpaper, which is an attracting addition to the room’s story. Its interesting details and design are definitely of interest for visiting guests and the little eyes of the baby.
I’ve always loved the new trend of framed animals in nurseries, however, I was looking for something a little bit more special, So I had my artist ‘Sawsan Shorbajee’ paint special ones for the room’s design, with animals that actually look away gazing into the flying air balloons on the wallpaper.
I’ve gone for a soft dusty Mint and antique Brass for my accents and accessories. Those are the colorful additions that bring a playful baby feel into the space.
Since February 5th, 2017, this room has been me and my baby’s gateway, where we share special moments and struggles adjusting to each other’s lives and bringing countless happy times.

Mint Green Woodland Nursery

This nursery was inspired by rooms I saw on Pinterest and Project Nursery. I went with a woodland theme and I’m so happy with how it turned out! I’m a DIYer so most of the things in this room are handmade. I love the color mint green and found a fabric I loved that had a mixture of mint green, navy blue and gray. The room is designed around this fabric and all the colors go so well together! It’s really easy to design a room around a color, pattern or theme. So it’s best to pick something, stick with it and run with it! The sign, ladder, shelves and accent wall were all created by me. Checkout my blog for tutorials on how to make them!

Planets and Picture Books Nursery

I’m a museum educator who uses children’s books to teach with weekly in the art museum. So when it came time to decorate my own child’s nursery, I couldn’t resist putting a few of my favorites on the walls. My husband, an engineer (we’re the perfect art and science mix), chose a solar system mobile. We had fun tying the rest of the room together with minty walls and pops of gray, white, and gold. Now we’re just waiting on this bump to fully bake for the room to be complete.

A Modern Mint Nursery

This nursery design combines 6 of my favorite things right now: (1) Back and White Room Design, (2) bold patterns like that fabulous rug and triangle wall decals, (3) tissue tassels, (4) clouds as decor, (5) the colors mint and GOLD, and (6) Caden Lane bedding!
We wanted an eclectic nursery that could work for gender neutral, and had a modern clean feel to it. I think we accomplished just that!

Harper’s Mint, Pink and Coral Vintage Chic Nursery

A mint, pink and coral vintage chic nursery for our baby girl Harper. After going into preterm labor unexpectedly and delivering at 27 weeks, life was became a bit chaotic. Creating a beautiful nursery became the one thing I felt could still turn out as planned. After visiting my baby girl in the NICU, I would come home and paint (and paint, and paint), plan, and work on things to create a lovely room for her to come home to. It was my therapy.
