Hazel’s Chic Lavender + Gold Nursery

I always feel like I struggle with home decorating, but since Hazel’s room prior to being her nursery, was just being used as a room for extra storage, I really felt like I had a true blank slate to start with.
I knew I didn’t want it to be over the top girly (i.e. ruffles + pink), but I definitely wanted it to be feminine and delicate that included some special pieces. I also wanted to be conscious when purchasing larger items (curtains, furniture, and rug) and make sure they would be able to either grow with her, or be used elsewhere in our home.
I started by picking out the larger items that I really loved, like the curtains and the rug (Wayfair). I couldn’t find a dresser that I LOVED that wasn’t super expensive, so we went with one from IKEA and I just replaced the boring black knobs, with the modern gold ones from Target.
I love a good gallery wall, and wanted to make it fun, yet custom to Hazel. I spent TONS of time scouring Instagram and Etsy for small shops that made unique prints/art. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I love the custom “H” done in watercolor by Wilder Florals. I also am pretty obsessed with the custom hoop art by Blue Without You Kids. Before we knew we were expecting a girl, my husband would refer to baby as “Turtle” so that is where the gold foil turtle print comes in, and meant something special to us.

Lovely Lavender Nursery for My Preemie

This room is vey simple but it means the world to me because 3 years ago this month, I gave birth to a preemie 12 weeks before my due date, and we worked on the nursery while Victoria was in the NICU.  When she had rough days in the NICU, I would come to her nursery and pray that God would allow her to come home to the place her family had put all their hearts in for her.  It is more than just a nursery to me.  3 years later, Victoria still loves her room and now gets to share it with her little sister.
