Gender Reveal Party on the Lawn

In anticipation of our first child, we decided to host a gender reveal party for our family and close friends in the beautiful Florida weather! We kept to a budget of about $200 and asked guests to bring a finger food to share in lieu of gifts. We also asked guests to make their vote known by dressing in either pink or white if they thought it was a girl or blue or green if they thought it was a boy.  Then we took pictures of the two teams before we revealed the gender. It was such a special day and an exciting way to share the news about our baby’s gender! (It’s a boy!)

Pumpkin Gender Reveal Party

Our friends were finding out the gender of their second baby in October, so I knew we had to do something fun with pumpkins. We set up a photo booth with props, pumpkin painting for the kids and stations to carve. Each family brought their own pumpkin to carve. We all placed our prediction and were excited to see what the Vela’s would carve. After enjoying taco soup and dessert the Vela’s revealed their mustache carved pumpkin to let us all know they are having another boy!

Ties or Tutus Gender Reveal Party

I was lucky to have some wonderful party girls/friends help me plan my ‘ties or tutus’ gender reveal party! Since this will be our last kiddo, I thought it would be fun to do something that I’ve never done with our other 3 children. I knew right away that I wanted to style this party using the colors yellow & gray! Our 20+ guests indulged in yummy desserts, tasty appetizers, and 3 different fruit spritzers. Drinks were served in milk bottles, and yummy mixed greens were eaten out of Mason jars. Our beautiful cake announced the gender of our 4th baby! We were so excited to finally tell our family & close friends that we are expecting another boy! Cupcakes, cookies, marshmallow pops, chocolate covered pretzels, and cake pops were among the several delicious desserts offered! I created a simple backdrop of yellow, white, and gray paper fans, and refurbished an old dresser I purchased from goodwill, and made it our dessert table! I collected empty wine bottles from my girlfriends, and turned them into simple centerpieces. I had so much fun styling & shooting my party! I worked with a great team of party/dessert vendors – I can’t thank them enough for all their beautiful talent, and delicious creations!

Team Pink VS Team Blue Gender Reveal Party!

We decided to have a Team Pink VS Team Blue gender reveal party since my husband loves football and luckily it turned out to be a BOY so I guess that was fitting!  We had it on a football Sunday and it was the first day of Fall, so the weather was perfect.  I ordered pepperoni pizza with the pepperonis in the shape of a question mark, had beer and root beer with pink and blue ribbon tied around them and everyone marked their guesses on a chalkboard next to the pumpkin fluff dip appetizer.  The way we all found out was by biting into the cupcakes provided by the bakery that I own here in LA that were filled with blue frosting!  It was such an exciting moment that we will never forget.

Gender Reveal Party for Baby Johnston

We threw a party for our closest friends & family, to find out the gender of our first baby. We had everyone choose a side, boy or girl, & wear pink or blue according to their guess. We went through the old wives tales to see what the old wives tales had to say about what our baby would be! We kept a tally on a chalk board, along with everyones votes. At one point during the party, we had everyone seperate into two teams, team pink & team blue. They had to draw what they thought our baby would look like. Their drawings were hilarious! We did not know the gender of our baby before the party. We had the ultrasound tech write it down & put it in a sealed envelope. I then gave the envelope to a dear friend & she made a cake, that had either pink or blue filling, according to what the tech wrote in the envelope. We cut the cake to reveal the gender, & it was a GIRL! It was so much fun finding out this big secret with our friends & family :) more on our blog: anwjohnston.blogspot.com

It’s Time Baby Celebration

When we found out we were expecting, I knew that I wanted to design a gender baby celebration that was not only an original and modern design, but one that our other three children could participate in. As I researched ideas, I began to envision a modern clock theme and thought it would be amazing for a cuckoo clock to chime and our kids to rush to see the cuckoo bird deliver them a slip of paper that would tell them if it was a boy or a girl :) That was a little farfetched, however, and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a cuckoo clock. So, I was beyond thrilled when I discovered a DIY tutorial on a website for a mock cuckoo clock. We had a close friend that was the only one to know the surprise clip the paper to the clock. A very loud cuckoo clock recording did indeed interrupt our soiree, and our oldest son rushed to pull the slip of paper off the clock and scream the results to our guests :):)All in all, it was a blissful evening full of family, fun, and amazing memories.

Gender Revealing Party

We threw a party to announce (and find out ourselves) the gender of our first baby.  (A boy!)  At our 20 week ultrasound, we had the ultrasound tech write on a piece of paper if it was a boy or girl and put it in a sealed envelope with the gender revealing ultrasound pictures.  I quickly took the envelope to a close friend to look inside and order a cake with pink or blue filling.  I’ve heard rumors of people taking the envelope to the bakery without someone looking and the bakery made the wrong colored cake or they lost the envelope, so I had a friend look at it to make sure it was correct.  At the party, I had a betting pool where people could bet $ on the date/time/weight of the baby when he is born.  There was an opportunity for people to vote on the sex and then I drew a name out of the correct boy/girl jar and they won a prize.  I had a couple baby pictures of me and my husband up, my pregnancy journal, and old wives tales on what the gender may be, available for people to read for fun.

Vintage Inspired Gender Reveal Party

My dear friends, who have struggled with infertility, are expecting their 1st child in October (a boy named Keller), and are moving out of town before the baby is due. Since I couldn’t throw them a shower I wanted to help celebrate this baby by throwing them a gender reveal party. After a yummy dinner the gender of the baby was revealed to the parents and guests by everyone biting into a cupcake that had either blue (boy) or yellow (girl) in the center.By the way….they are having a BOY!

Baby Reveal Party: Blue or Pink, What Do You Think?

Gender reveal parties are the newest thing happening right now amongst expecting parents! I was beyond thrilled when I was given the opportunity to help the proud parents celebrate their little “peanut”. The whole idea was that Jen and Duc would cut a cake to find out if they were expecting a boy or girl. It was amazing to have so much love and excitement in one place for this new little life.
