Elephant Baby Shower for Baby Boy #2

I wasn’t sure about throwing a shower for my second baby, but several of my friends kept asking about it and I decided to put one together. One of my good friends who loves decorating parties decided to help me and in just a few weeks, we put together a great little party.
I was inspired by the decor theme I had chosen for the nursery, which was elephants. I started searching and found a really cute set of plates, napkins and decor that featured an elephant with an umbrella! From this, we started developing our ideas…always with pinterest as inspiration.
We put together a simple and elegant cake table featuring gray chevron table runners, a two-tier cake topped with an elephant holding an umbrella, several trays of Brazilian sweets (chocolate and coconut truffles), and of course some flowers. For the backdrop, we used white balloons as clouds with gray and blue raindrops.
For the gift area, we setup an umbrella also with raindrops falling from it, that was hung from the ceiling. Guests placed their gifts under the umbrella and it was a really cute scenario for gift opening.
In the entrance we had a welcome table with advice cards for guests to fill out and also a three-tiered tower of favors. I decided to give out as favors PocketBacs (mini hand sanitizers) from Bath & Body Works because it’s a very practical gift especially since most of my friends have kids.  I bought the scents that came in the party colors, so it would fit into the decor.
Finally for the food, we had mostly Brazilian hors d’oeuvre such as cheese breads, chicken empanadas, and so forth. We also offered some hummus and fruit salad. The table had the same chevron runner and was decorated with blue and white flowers including tulips and hydrangeas.
It was a great party and I’m so glad I decided to do it!

Peanut and Elephant Baby Shower

In June of last year, I had the honor of planning a peanut and elephant themed baby shower for my good friend Meaghan and her husband who were expecting their first child, a boy, in September. I was thrilled to find out I was going to be a new auntie! I truly had so much fun planning and designing this shower as I wanted it to be special and memorable for Meaghan, her husband, and Tristan who actually blessed our lives early in July as a preemie.
