Welcome to the World Baby Shower for Baby Girl Elliot with a theme of “Oh! The Places She’ll Go”
We didn’t know if we were having a boy or girl until the baby came so the paint, furniture and bedding were purchased to work for either a boy or girl.
Dr. Seuss-themed playtime party to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Seuss snacks were served and lots of “props” including Dr. Seuss books and plush toys were arranged for a photo op. Each little guest received a framed Dr. Seuss quote that I designed wrapped in chevron paper.
My daughter loved the Cat in the Hat when she was three so I thought it would be a perfect theme for her birthday party. It was difficult to find items at the local party store so we had to improvise a bit. By using a few theme colors – red, white and turquoise we were able to pull off a simple Cat in the Hat party.
My sisters knew Dr. Seuss was my favorite children’s author and so they designed a baby boy shower around the author and his famous books. This was a complete surprise and majority of the items are HANDMADE including the cake. :)
Cat in the Hat themed birthday party for my son’s 1st Birthday!
For our first born, we wanted a room that would grow with our daughter. We wanted the room to be bright and cheery that would be as appropriate for a newborn as it would a 4 year old.
We put together a storybook themed baby sprinkle! We based all of the food and desserts on children’s books.Check out: http://newlywednest.wordpress.com/2012/07/22/baby-bliss/ for more info!{bliss}ful | photography captured the event! http://blissful.yolasite.com/
We wanted a fun, Dr. Seuss themed nursery that would grow with our baby, but we didn’t want to use any of the pre made Dr. Seuss stuff that’s on the market. We also didn’t want to spend more than $1000.
A shared toodler room/nursery. The theme we chose was Dr. Seuss. As soon as I saw this crib bedding and the matching toddler bedding I fell in love with it. I love the warm colors.
Cat in the hat theme.
We turned a John Deere room in our basement into a bright and cheerful playroom inspired by the colors in Dr. Seuss’s “Oh The Places You’ll Go.” This room had to be done quickly and on a tight budget, and be transitional for kids from newborn to elementary-age.
Since I really wanted a Seuss themed nursery for our son, and it didn’t work out, I was determined to use it for his first birthday. He has loved having the Seuss books read to him more than any other since he was tiny so we knew this was perfect. I love planning parties, and I wanted Ezra’s to be extra special and have more personal touches than your average first birthday. Due to my husband’s insistence I also did this on a pretty reasonable budget as well by ordering lots of printables from etsy.com, using wrapping paper and ribbon to decorate old formula cans and adding foam balls to hold up the chocolate lollipops and marshmellow cat hats I made, and making the cupcakes myself.
Dr. Seuss has set this nursery project in motion! We have been blessed with the news of a baby boy! We are beyond ecstatic for him to be here!!! He is going to be one special little boy and deserves a very special love filled nursery. Hopefully we can get it done before the end of July. Thanks for folllwing our progress!
A Dr. Seuss inspired theme birthday, it’s a toss up who had more fun wsith this party – the momma creating it or the birthday boy himself!
I had a hard time thinking of a nursery theme for my son’s room, all I could think about was what I didn’t want (monkeys, jungle, and sports). And than I came upon so classic Dr. Seuss books at the store and it was like a light bulb went off! My husband and I could remember reading those books as children and how they seemed to inspire creativity and encourage imagination! After we got the nursery started the theme continued to speak to us and helped us choose our baby’s name! Who would have thought that a cat in a hat could inspire so much!
A fun, bright Dr. Seuss character filled room for our little boy :)
Our Baby Shower held on 9.25.10 for our first baby. The theme was based off the Dr. Seuss book, “Oh Baby, All the Places You Will Go!” In traditional Filipino fashion (where everyone’s invited!), we had to accommodate an 100+ guest count of family & friends.
