On Cloud Nine Nursery

Because having a baby is like being on full time cloud nine. We designed this space for a gender neutral nursery that will grow with sweet baby, Jagger. We love the muted tones of gray and blue with black contrast. Our favorite part… definitely the cloud wallpaper on the ceiling with the cloud-like light fixture. It is the nursery that dreams are made of.

Oh Happy Day – A Second Birthday Party

Oh Happy Day was a party for a colorful little girl on a warm spring day. The sun, clouds, and heart-shaped raindrops were incorporated throughout the house, accented by tons of bright colors and traditional birthday party decorations. We envisioned an old-fashioned home birthday party, updated with fun decorations and the now mandatory bounce house.
I am constantly searching out unique childrenswear looks for my blog, Mama’s Heels, and couldn’t resist the urge to incorporate a playful design aesthetic into Anna’s special day.

Enchanted Forest Mural

When my nieces moved to a new house, I wanted to give them a room that could grow with them from little girl to preteen. The older girl wanted a jungle room and the younger wanted a princess theme, so I compromised with an enchanted forest with a faerie tale castle in the clouds and jungle animals lounging in the “trees.” I used muted colors to avoid the cartoon-y look children’s murals can get, and used abstracted shapes instead of fully realized forms. You can see the entire transformation from 1980s wallpapered duck room to its current state here: http://hadesarrow.com/blog/2011/03/14/nice-niece-bedroom

Malu’s Sunny B-Day!

For my baby girl’s second birthday I’ve decided to create a party inspired by the sun, since she loves sunny days and always asks me to draw the sun and put a smile on it. It was the first time in my life I’ve done all the party decoration by myself. I had tones of fun doing it and I’ve worked a lot to get it all done before my due date (my baby boy was born just 13 days before the party).
