Circus Themed Birthday Party – Madagascar 3 Style

Those that have been following me for some time know that I go all out every year for my son’s birthday party. His 1st birthday was a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme, his 2nd birthday was a Jake & the Neverland Pirates theme, and for his 3rd birthday last year I went all out with a Madagascar 3 Circus themed birthday party! This year’s party was over-the-top, full of DIY projects, fun, wild, colorful, and full of sugary, sweet delectable goodies = guaranteed success. Check out this awesome DIY birthday party, wild circus Madagascar style!

Colorful Circus Gender Neutral Nursery

We worked on a budget and DIY most of the elements, the room that we started with did not have lights besides a very small one right next to the entry door, so my husband and father-in-law worked on adding can lights, book shelves and closet. I was in charge of the smaller projects being my first ones the elephant lamp along with the “K” light. The most meaningful project has to be the bathroom door, I painted a section of North America and South America and added hearts to where Santiago, Chile  and California, USA are so we can show our little baby Peanut where Mom and Dad are from =]
The very last project I worked on for the room was the cardboard name sign on top of the crib, since we didn’t know the sex of our Baby, I waited until after delivery, I had already set a side a big box that I was planning on using, but that same week I had planned to start with the sign my Cousin send us the tall giraffe, so I used that box instead, which allowed me to make the sign a lot bigger than my initial plan.

Our Little Girl’s 1st Birthday!

The main idea was to have a party that was simple and colorful, without an obvious theme. Our little girl hadn’t been exposed to a lot of tv characters, so she did not have a favorite character to be the driving force and inspiration for the party. Instead, we chose to use animals and colors to compose a theme, since that’s what she was learning at the time. And also, because we live in an old house we love, there was nothing better than marrying a vintage theme with animals that she loved. So vintage circus it was! The color scheme was vintage inspired, as well as the patterns. I purchased the round poms poms at etsy and made the banner pom poms to accentuate the color scheme. Other than that, I worked on the same combination for the tags, cards, labels, invitation, etc. It was a fun project to work on and practice my illustrator and photoshop skills. The piñata was a gift and it completed the decor. The home brewed beer was also a wonderful gift and it made the party! Everyone had a great time, especially our girl.

Miles’ Big Top Carnival 1st Birthday Party

My mom and I created a carnival themed 1st birthday party for my son, Miles.  We had 10 carnival games for the children (and adults!) to play, a local children’s magic show called Shizzle Dizzle performed, balloon sculptures and temporary tattoos were made and put on, a photo booth for pictures, and a Bounce House.  All of our guests enjoyed carnival food (such as corn dogs) under our red and white striped carnival tent, as well as, pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy, and sno cones to snack on.  We had a “Sweets and Treats” table and our guests were encouraged to fill one of the carnival boxes full of candy before they left.  After playing the carnival games, the children were able to choose a prize from our prize table and also a carnival treat box. It was a beautiful day and our family and friends had a wonderful time celebrating our son’s 1st birthday together!

Cirque du Bebe Shower

I couldn’t have asked for a better day. We hosted our own shower and had it at our house so our friends and family could see Olivia’s nursery. I have been crying with gratitude from my friends and family’s kindness. We had PF Changs catered and Sprinkles cupcakes. All the guests took pics with the instant camera and are going to put them in a scrapbook. We still haven’t opened all the gifts but I am super excited about 2 in particular because I LOVE Bjork and our daughter’s Godmother gave us a Bjork doll from Etsy!!! I was screaming when I opened it!! My other friend made special *Bjork-inspired wrapping paper* for our gifts. I LOVE my friends and family so much. Everyone wrote wishes for Olivia and I was full-on crying when we read them tonight. Some were sooo sweet and some were seriously funny. Jeff, our caricaturist was a HUGE hit, he made everyone look hilarious, I LOVE ours. I am so majorly happy how nice everything was. Everyone loved our nursery and kept telling us how lucky our daughter will be. I can’t stop grinning from ear to ear.
