Cactus Nursery
I want a calming, neutral nursery with some nature aspects in it. Since I live in Arizona, I was instantly drawn to cacti so I opted to go with neutral furniture with touches of greens and cacti all around.

We decided early on that we did not want to find out the gender of our baby until he/she popped out but I am such a fan of color so I still wanted something super fun & bright! I started combing through Pinterest boards & Project Nursery and when I saw some cactus themed rooms, I thought that could be a fun way to add our last name (Sharpe) in there to personalize it!
My wife chose the desert pictures to go above the crib and that is where I started. I love all things boho and the rest of our home has boho elements. I knew that is the direction that I wanted to go with the nursery! The next thing I did was chose a rug so that I would have color inspiration!
We are expecting our fourth and final baby – a BOY! The general vibe in our home is more of a modern farmhouse, but I have had this desire to do something more modern, and I knew this would be the perfect opportunity! We are big DIYers around here, so I sat down and started planning. I drew up some things that were completely out of our comfort zone, put a ton of hope and faith in my talented husband and showed him my plans. He not only brought my visions to life, but absolutely ROCKED them. This space is small, but mighty…and I am SO proud of the final product.
We designed the feature wall and created it with mdf boards. My husband built the sliding wood door for his closet, wood shelves and the rad modern style blanket ladder we saw on Shanty2Chic’s blog.
This project was designed for my son McClain! After our first son, Hilton’s Fox Nursery had such AMAZING feedback the pressure was on to design a space that McClain could be as equally proud of (already with the 2nd time mom guilt). As with Hilton’s room we wanted the rug to be a focal point, so I contacted American Dakota with my ideas, and they did a custom color on their already gorgeous Bounty Rug! Once I had the rug, I went to work on the other elements of the room! I decided to use the very on trend Cactus Theme, because I feel like it works as a nursery but can also grow with the boys, or would work as a fun office space once the nursery is no longer needed!
This is the nursery we put together for our daughter, Lark. We reused the crib, dresser, changing table, and rocker that were in our older son’s nursery and changed out all the accessories to create a bright, cheerful, and stimulating space for our baby girl to grow in.
