Emerson’s Letters & Numbers Nursery
This is the nursery that I created for my son Emerson. Only a few items were purchased brand new; most were hand made by family and friends or refinished by me.

When I found out we were having a boy, I knew I wanted to make his nursery bright and colorful. A surf themed nursery was the obvious choice since surfing is my husband’s favorite past time.
This is a nursery for baby boy that is due to be here soon! I have always loved decorating, but this has been a whole new level of fun. I loved every moment of decorating this sweet nursery for him.
We repainted our walls and trim, repainted an old dresser, built a bookcase, purchased a rug/curtains/crib and filled our space with bright colors.
I created an aqua and orange nursery for our baby boy, Phoenix, using modern furniture and animal decor. I can’t get enough of the owl theme, so I included a lot of owls, but tried to tone it down for my hubby. Although I wish I was, I am not a do it yourselfer; instead I scoured the internet to find what I wanted. Some tidbits: I fell in love with the two tone furniture. The french and english bulldog artwork look exactly like our dogs, He-man and She-ra. The Phoenix decal above the dresser was my hubby’s addition to the room. You can’t see it well, but the print above the bookshelf is of San Francisco, which is close to where my husband and I lived when we first met. I copied the P in the orange frame from another project nursery profile, Vera’s nursery, where she had it in yellow. Oh, and that glider is expensive, but it’s the most comfortable one on the planet and it’s cute.
We wanted a nursery that could grow with Oliver, a room that the whole family could enjoy. We are not big on “themed” nurseries nor “babyish” nurseries. We chose the colors blue and orange and went from there…. and of course it had to be budget friendly!
My son had a super rad SURFER 7th birthday party! He picked blue and orange with a pop of green as his color scheme and I went for a very beachy overall feel . Best part is that this party was done on a REAL budget and I think we ot our bang for our buck! Photos were taken by Maggie Russo Photo ~ Chicago
