Sebastian’s Costal Nursery

Sebastians costal nursery. I wanted to create a special space for my baby boy due in February. This makes number 4 for me, so with it being my last baby I was inspired to go above and beyond to create something beautiful. It’s been a minute since I’ve created a boy nursery. I’ve been creating girl nurseries for the past 5 years. The ocean and beach are my happy place and I knew I wanted this room to have that feel. I started with the name sign first. I wanted to display his name in a unique way. I thought what better way than a surf board. Luckily I found a company “Marker Six” on Etsy that made my vision come to life.  My in laws just purchased a home in South Carolina. While visiting, I saw this beautiful wallpaper in one of the rooms. The blue and white, and mix of flamingos with palms are what did it for me! It was so elegant and costal. I loved it from the minute I saw it. I do have to give credit to my MIL for the finding. Once I found the wallpaper and name sign , everything else just fell into place. I started mixing boho decor in and beige tones. It really added warmth and made the room feel cozy. I am so proud of this nursery. It’s bittersweet that it is my last! Rhett’s surf retreat

I wanted to keep this fairly neutral so it would be easy to transition into a big boy room as Rhett grows and starts developing his own likes/interests. I learned with my first child that using a dresser as a changing table is an easy way to stretch your use and money, as the dresser will work long after he outgrows diapers. Our favorite place as a family is on the coast so this easy breezy theme has some art work from our favorite vacation spot, so not only is it peaceful and relaxing but it has some sentiment as well. Just mix and match pieces from everywhere including IKEA, Etsy, Target, and TJ Maxx.

Hawaii Inspired Nursery

Growing up, my family and I spent every summer in Maui, HI (I even took my first steps there!).  We continue our annual visits to this day, only now with all of our families.  We have so many wonderful memories there and I love the immediate feeling of peace and relaxation when the plane lands in Kahului.  When my husband and I found out we were pregnant, I knew I wanted to create a little sanctuary for our baby boy that echoed those feelings.  I wanted to keep it crisp and clean, but also bring in some bright colors, just like Hawaii.  I found these amazing prints by artist, Nick Kuchar of all the places we love on the island.  They had a playful and vintage flair, and I knew I wanted to design the room around those prints.  The other items that we selected played off the color palette that Nick used in his prints, and gave the room a cohesive look.  I especially love the ombré mobile which reminds me of the beautiful blue ocean.  We absolutely love how Owen’s paradise came together!

Lincoln’s Relaxing, Beachy-Keen, Affordable Nursery

I was thrilled to get to help my friends, Caroline and Ethan, design their nursery for their first baby, Lincoln. Caroline grew up going to her grandparents’ beach house in historic Galveston, Texas, and Caroline and Ethan were married there, so it was a natural jumping off point when we were contemplating the feel of the room.
We agreed to embrace the calming neutrals that come to mind when thinking of gulf beaches — muted blues, creams, and sands with some pops of happy yellow and orange to round out the space. With that in mind, the fun began: shopping! Caroline and Ethan had an adorable crib, glider, and dresser/changing table in mind, and once those staples were in place, I pulled together some options for rugs, curtains, art, and accessories.
I am over the moon with how the room came together! It’s a relaxing room for Mom, Dad, and Lincoln, filled to the brim with memories and thoughtful touches. The fantastic (and super affordable!) rug grounds the space with its deep navy color and a texture that reads beachy without being overtly nautical. The dresser used as a changing table is a simple Ikea staple, updated lovingly with a fresh coat of paint from Dad. The curtains we kept light and breezy, and the fringe border is a special touch. The art over the changing table is a photograph of the Pleasure Pier, one of the couples’ favorite places to visit in Galveston. Happily, it’s become Lincoln’s favorite thing to stare at during his diaper changes.
My favorite touch is probably the DIY copper & rope art that Caroline completed for above Lincoln’s crib. The cotton piping definitely has a nautical feel, and the copper ties in nicely with the copper side table next to the glider. As an added bonus, it’s light and won’t harm baby in the unlikely event that Austin, Texas has an earthquake and it comes unfastened from the wall.

Beach Baby Nursery

I wanted to create a calm, bright, airy, beachy nursery for our baby. Using neutral colors, woven textures, and blue hues to achieve the look I was going for. I had dreamed of designing a nursery for my baby for my whole life, and making this dream a reality was just so much fun. We knew we were having a little boy and I have always loved the beach, so it was fun to throw in some beachy accents without making it too “themed”.

Julia’s Beach Chic Nursery

To be honest I thought I was having a boy so my ideas for the nursery was nautical, blue and boats. With the news of having a girl I had to start from scratch. I am not into the tradional pink rooms but I still wanted it to be girly. Since my husband and I love the ocean, I went with an ocean theme keeping in mind sand and shells to use as the color palette for our baby girls room.

Aqua and Orange Beach Inspired Nursery

What started out as a mellow, sea blue, sandy beige and white, beach inspired nursery concept for our first little one, evolved into a unique room with more pop when my husband said something like, “It is a kid’s room after all…a little more color wouldn’t hurt.” I was concerned that the room would be too boring initially, so once he said this it confirmed the direction I wanted to take.  This room was a very bland guest room waiting for a baby and itching to be transformed.
