Sweet and Crisp Sprinkled with Pink

As a mother of two boys (and an aunt to 7 boys), I have had little experience with much in the “girly” department.  In April we were shocked at the odds that a little girl would be entering this family full of only boys.  It looked like colors such as pink and purple may enter our life, as well as flowers and bows.  I knew I wanted to create a feminine space, but I wanted it to remain sophisticated, yet sweet.  It was too hard to resist the color pink after years of its absence, however, it is no surprise that the color blue found it’s way into sweet Carolina’s room too!

{Vintage Poodle Birthday}

This lovely event is very special for this family as their eldest daughter was turning 10 years old and they wanted to celebrate in style.  The theme was an easy pick since Mom loves everything vintage and shabby chic.  The birthday girl loves dogs, specially french poodles, so we paired themes to please them both.  The tone of the party was set with pastel colors, vintage flower patterns, polka dots and with that I created all the labels, favor tags, banner and invitation.  The use of doilies and ribbon was carried throughout all the setup and details.
We were so lucky to have found a ceramic figure of a french poodle to tie in the dog theme to the shabby affair.  Other items we scattered around were faux pearl necklaces, fabric rose garlands and baby pictures of the birthday girl.
For dessert we served french macarons, cupcakes, donuts, brownies, strawberry parfaits, petit fours and key lime pies.  A stunning ombre ruffle cake by Jovanna Valentín was the show piece to complete the look.  For the sweet floral centerpieces, I used Geraldine roses, Gerberas and baby rosebuds and mason jars embellished with doilies and ribbon.

Fabulously Theme-less First Birthday

Hello Again! As if my Wilhelmina’s “Fabulously Theme-less Nursery” wasn’t enough, I decided to go for a “Fabulously Theme-less First Birthday” to celebrate our glorious first 12 months with our girl.  We decided to throw a fairly simple party, on a beautiful November day, in the shade of the trees in our side yard. Our home is right next door to a neighborhood park so it was an ideal location for all of W’s friends to join us for some cupcakes and BBQ and a fun day of playing in the park.

{Up, Up and Away Baby Shower}

So happy to share with you this fantastic and beautiful baby shower we styled for my friend Ilianetsie’s Baby Shower!  Turns out this will be her third little boy, so we wanted to make something simple but fabulous.  A ladies only brunch with 50 of her closest friends and family.  We went with the hot air balloon theme simply because we’ve never done it before and she seemed like she was on cloud nine with this baby.

Mod Monkey 1st Birthday

While looking at Project Nursery for nursery ideas, I saw the parties that people were also posting. So, naturally, when my little guy was going to turn 1, I consulted this site again, looking for ideas. For some reason, monkeys have been a theme with him, so I chose to go that route. I liked the “Mod Monkey” theme but instead of buying that party themed decor, I designed everything myself using digital software.

Veda Jane’s Carnival Nursery

From day one I just knew that I wanted a carnival nursery for my baby girl! My husband and I have always loved carnivals, and in a lot of ways I feel like we are still two big kids so it seemed perfect and fitting to create a fun carnival inspired nursery for our Veda Jane! We had an extremely tight budget to work with so everything you see here was either done by hand or vintage finds that we repurposed! We spent less than $300 on this nursery!

Sip and See for Avalon

A Sip & See, an Australian tradition, is a type of baby shower where parents invite friends and family over to ‘see’ the newborn while ‘sipping’ on a drink, generally Champagne, tea, coffee, or punch. Leave it to the Australians to turn a baby shower into a reason to drink! A Sip & See is perfect for couples on their 2nd or 3rd child who either didn’t have a baby shower, or want a way to introduce all the family to the new baby at once. As the proud mommy of a brand new baby girl I wanted to do something special to welcome her into the world. Being that this is my 3rd child, I did not have a baby shower for her. Being that I am a small business owner, I do not get paid on maternity leave, so the husband gave me a teeny tiny budget to work with, so I became very DIY.
