A Hunting Nursery with Classic Style

This sweet hunting nursery was sent to us by a grandmama-to-be (Diane Easley) and was designed by her daughter, Katie McClanahan.  Katie came across our Washed Linen in Gray Crib Collection on Instagram, and thought it would be the perfect addition to her baby’s room.
Katie found her inspiration for this space on Pinterest, with a little help from her husband who is an avid hunter and fisherman.  Hence the hint of woodland style decor.  A new dad must be thrilled to be able to have some say in his baby boy’s room!

For a nursery inspired by the outdoors, the deer head wall accent and buffalo plaid curtains are the ideal accents.  Often hunting inspired rooms are designed with dark colors such as red and black.  This room’s light color palette is chic and clean.  The simple design can easily go with any style room.  You don’t always have to go full lumberjack to bring a woodsy feel to your nursery.  The subtle infusion of a few rustic accents adds just the right touch to this hunting themed nursery.

The soft gray and muted blue colors creates a serene and cozy room.  The patterned buffalo check nursery curtains and area rug compliment the solid gray linen crib bedding perfectly.  Katie added personalization to the room by adding a monogram to the crib rail cover.  The gorgeous area rug from Lulu and Georgia brings warmth, texture and relaxed sophistication to the room.  White floating shelves hold favorite books to read in the comfy glider from Best Chairs.  Watercolor hunting and fishing inspired prints were a gift from a friend.  The cottage style crib was purchased used, and repainted white.

Navy Modern Boy’s Nursery

This boy’s nursery is modern with clean lines and a masculine feel. We had to get creative with placing the furniture in this design because the room is triangular in shape. The color palette for this nursery is primarily white and gray. For a bit of contrast we added navy details throughout the room. The client fell in love with a super versatile crib in white with acrylic details. We opted for a custom dresser with a changing table tray to get the perfect fit and color. One of my favorite pieces in this space is the light-colored modern rocking chair, which is compact yet comfortable. We used mixed metallics in this space so the chrome base of the rocker ties in with gold detail on the side table. Even the cozy textured gray rug has metallic details. The storage bench with a surprise pop of color doubles as additional seating. We installed two white shelving units on both sides of the bench for a peaceful, symmetrical look and a display for decor and toys. The major statement penguin photograph was a favorite of my client! It makes for a playful artistic focal point and I love that is versatile enough to grow with the child and space.

A Neutral Nursery for Paxon

We immediately fell in love with this sweet and simple nursery designed by Brittney Horton for her soon to be third child, a boy, Paxton Horton!  The soft gray, blue and white tones give a calm and relaxing feel to this adorable nursery, and inspiration for neutral nursery ideas.  We think Brittney nailed it, with this serene baby boy nursery!
After having two girls, Brittney was expecting a baby boy, and was excited to design his nursery!  The sweet baby rhino artwork was the inspiration for the room.  Brittney coordinated the colors of the room with this adorable print from Paper Llamas.  Although the nursery is not “jungle themed”, the rhino print is just enough to add a little wildness to the room!

The white crib pops on the gray paneled wall, which adds a bit of sophistication.  Gold and soft blue elements add an element of color as well.

For her third and last child, Brittney wanted Paxon’s room to have a “baby” feel, and not look too grown up.  For the baby bedding, Brittney chose our Gray Star Crib Sheet and Solid White Crib Skirt.  The star printed crib sheet, baby mobile and dark wood mid-century dresser combine to give the room a sweet, yet masculine feel.

The board and batten wall was installed by Brittney’s husband.  After debating whether to put wallpaper or the board and batten, Brittney was glad she decided on the latter.  The wall was a labor of love for her husband, and also added to the transitional style Brittney loves.  The gray paint from Sherwin Williams (Latitude) pulls the room together, and gives a soothing feel to the room.

Little touches of blue remind you that the nursery is for a baby boy!  The soft blue changing pad coverfeatures a fun swiss cross pattern.  The stunning wood dresser and gray glider add to the mid-century ambiance of the room.  Touches of gold in the floor lamp, mirror and framed print add a special touch.

Let us know what you think of this sweet gender neutral nursery!  With two big sisters to take good care of him, baby Paxton is sure to get lots of love!  Thank you for sharing this adorable room with us, Brittney!

A Rustic Baby Boy Nursery

When we saw the pictures of this amazing farmhouse nursery on Instagram, we were completely in awe!  The iron crib, rustic wood accents, vintage decor and shiplap walls make this baby boy nursery a cozy and comfy space for neutral baby’s room!    Designed by Morgan Ravenscraft Wages for her new baby, Rhett Allen, we couldn’t wait to share this adorable nursery with you!  See more of this farmhouse nursery on our Blog!

A Sweet Blue & Gray Nursery for a Baby Boy

What baby boy wouldn’t be thrilled to be welcomed home to this cozy and comfy nursery?!  With an abundance of natural light, this room creates a calming retreat for a baby.  The blue buffalo plaid wallpaper, rustic crib and a touch of greenery give the room the look and feel of a classic farmhouse nursery.  Morning news anchor of FOX 5 in Atlanta, Katie Beasley, designed this precious room for her new baby, Cole Davis, born October, 19, 2018.  This sweet nursery serves as a warm, welcoming space for Katie’s new baby boy!
Cole’s room is the perfect mix of neutral colors and textures.  The blue buffalo plaid wallpaper makes a bold statement, and is the perfect backdrop for the rustic wood crib.  This nursery gives an abundance of baby boy nursery ideas and features sweet baby boy nursery decor.
The mix of different color woods in the nursery furniture gives the room an eclectic feel.  The white dresser from Wayfair doubles as a changing station, saving space in the room.

Katie chose our simple and neutral white and gray trimmed crib rail cover from our Small Wonders Crib Collection for the crib bedding, which fits perfectly in with the color scheme of the room.  The rustic crib and the plaid wallpaper give the nursery a farmhouse style.
A cozy corner in the nursery provides a relaxing spot for feedings and bedtime stories.  The gold floor lamp gives a modern twist to the room.  The nursery is well organized with wall shelves and cubbies for toys and more.
Thank you Katie for sharing this classic and timeless room with us!  This classic baby’s room will never go out of style!

Felix Nautical Nursery

Having worked with Felix’s parents twice already, to be invited back a third time was pretty special!
I had a great understanding of their style and knew we could try something a little bold….while still remaining a really classic base.
We started with the navy grasscloth wallpaper and added in a beautiful wainscoting base.  Little nautical touches throughout the space incorporate the family’s love with the ocean.

Vintage Hot Air Balloon Animal Nursery

I’ve always been an artist. When i was contemplating my son’s new nursery, I imagined creating a whimsical mural scene of hot air balloons & animals floating around the room. I wanted to create a unique, serene, classical, vintage feel. Along with a calming space for both of us. As an Award winning, decorative artist & designer, when what I wanted wasn’t out there, I designed it. We converted our then “large office” into the baby’s room. 1st- I chose the design elements. The walls on either side of the window were empty nooks so my hubby and I built in some floating natural wood shelves. I also knew i wanted to create a “sky” and a “horizon” I chose the wall, trim & ceiling colors and added (horizon line) moldings. Then created vintage panels using tape to create creamy stripes and scallops below the chair rail. I also chose a light fixture that resembled a “Balloon”. The ceiling height was 11 feet. Shopping for drapes this size & length were pricey. So, i bought some inexpensive canvas and sewed the draperies myself. Then i spent 6 months of my pregnancy creating up on a scaffolding, hand painting animals, balloons, and clouds. I couldn’t find matching wall prints so designed some vintage prints on Photoshop. I Matted and put them in large silver, antique looking frames. For his name above the crib, I found some metal plaques at a craft store and repainted them to match. I picked up additional, coordinating decor items around town ( an old style clock, wrought iron animals etc) and worked with a quilt artist to create my son’s own “Vintage Balloon” Quilt. We worked together to get the colors into the quilt from left over drapery fabric and using the colors in my paintings. I’ve never poured so much love into a project and i think it shows. ~Beverley Wolter

Modern Industrial Baby Boy Nursery

I really wanted to create a bright space for my baby boy, accented with masculine industrial and slightly rustic touches. Starting with a whitewashed wood wall, I was easily able to bring in subtle shades of blue and turquoise that contrasted beautifully with the mixed metals in the space.
I particularly like how this room turned out because it’s not overly “babyish” – it’s a space that will easily grow with my son. All we will have to do is swap out some of the artwork and the crib and he will have a stylish big boy room!
I think this space will appeal to many different design styles – rustic, farmhouse, industrial, contemporary and transitional – as it has all of these elements rolled into one cohesive space. It’s honestly my favorite room in the house!

Lincoln’s Light and Bright Nursery

Lincoln’s nursery is one of my favorite rooms in our home. I spend so much time in there, I guess it should be. I love how light and bright and airy this room feels. It is warm and inviting, and as I sit and rock Lincoln in the comfortable glider, I love to take in all the fun, bright details of his room. The contents of this room are the perfect blend of old and new bringing back wonderful memories of time gone by. I have rocked all five of my baby boys in the glider, spending many sleepless nights holding, feeding, and dreaming about what was to come. We’ve put each one to bed in the crib, quietly tip toeing out of the room in hopes of a peaceful nights sleep. I love that this furniture has stood the test of time and made it through five boys.

To make the nursery extra special, I added many DIY projects. As I worked on each one, I excitedly anticipated the arrival of the new baby boy who would complete our family. I painted the walls Light French Gray by Sherwin Williams and painted the trim white. I sewed the quilt with organic cotton that I selected from Birch Fabrics. A wonderful friend embroidered Lincoln’s initials on a solid white square that perfectly completed his quilt. I borrowed my Dad’s scroll saw and hand cut each letter out of birch wood for Lincoln’s round name sign. I added chicken wire to the back of an open frame, creating a fun place to hang pictures and memories of our sweet boy. I made the colorful mobile out of paint chip samples from a local paint shop. I enlisted an etsy shop owner to create the “There is No BUDDY like a Brother” print. The perfect addition to the room of a baby boy with four older brothers. I made the curtains and crib skirt from fabric I purchased at Carousel Designs, for Jack’s nursery four years ago. I am so happy with how Lincoln’s nursery turned out, and I hope my son will enjoy it as much as I do.

A Hunter’s Dream Nursery

Hunter’s name was the inspiration for this design; it had to be special, playful and magical. This is a modern take on a forest theme. The color scheme (blue, green and blue-green) is great for bedrooms because of the calming effects they produce. With kids, it’s essential to be able to quickly toss and hide all the toys that eventually get left around the room. An over-sized storage ottoman is perfect for not only toys, but also nice for propping your feet up during story time. It’s perfect to sit on during sleep training and midnight feedings. The dresser which doubles as a changing table was updated with zebra and number pulls. Working with a strict budget we paid attention to the little things like changing the hardware on an inexpensive dresser to give it a custom feel without the price tag. Next to the glider is an animal leg table for easily placing a bottle. Flanking the crib are two ladder bookshelves with large bottom drawers for additional storage. Toys from the parent’s childhood are styled alongside other architectural and colorful toys and a few playful grown-up accessories. The vibrant blue/green chandelier mimics the rug and brings in a touch of elegance. Little details like the blue/green glass closet knobs help to bring in more of the color palette, adding to the overall look. Handy branch hooks hang above the closet door and the curious giraffe mounted to the wall is gazing toward the crib. Babies love busy patterns so we chose the oak tree wallpaper. The little white bird mobile blends in naturally and he will be entertained by both for hours.
The focal point in the room is the custom neon sign that says “Hunter.” It’s written in his grandmother’s handwriting and will be a keepsake for him, but for now, it’s his night light.

Batman, Gotham City Nursery

When we found out we were having a boy and were discussing how to decorate the nursery, I said I wanted a New York City theme while my husband said Batman. The compromise was easy: Gotham City.
I didn’t want the Batman aspect to take over the whole room, I was aiming for a more sophisticated and subtle Batman theme than typical. I really think I achieved that by focusing on the architecture of Gotham City, which of course is New York!  Manhattan is our favourite place in the whole world and every time I go in this room I’m taken back there.
That giant New York City mural is definitely the highlight of the room. It covers the whole wall and is so grand–the photos do not do it justice.  And I also just adore the acrylic crib, isn’t it posh?!
There are a few DIYs in this room. I made the Dark Knight Mobile hanging above the crib out of cardstock, the yarn covered monogram, the batman paper garland under the book shelf, and the grey, white and turquoise chevron crochet blanket.  Check out my blog post here for more!
I am really in love with that picture of Batman on the Chrysler building, isn’t it magnificent?  A great Etsy find!  The Addams Family (my favourite family–aren’t Gomez and Morticia the ultimate couple?!) three legged onesie was a custom purchase from a terrific Etsy seller as well, and we found the Baby Han Solo drawing at Comic Con!
Our baby boy has a pair of vintage shoes and the complete set of Hardy Boys books.  He already has a fabulous set of New York and Batman themed books, and if he’s anything like his older sister those will be his favourite part of the room!
We love this nursery and think he will like it right into his Big Boy years.

Carter’s Neutral Modern Safari Nursery

Having just moved in to our new home when we found out we were pregnant, the “someday nursery” needed a plan right away. I knew regardless of gender that I would stick to the same basics as big brother’s room – gray and white. I saw an emerald dresser on Pinterest and couldn’t shake the accent color. If we had a girl I would have added another pop of color/florals to add femininity to the nursery; however I’m blessed to be a “boy mom” so no need to add in another color!
I found the angular animals accidentally while in At Home for some Christmas decor, and that sparked the modern take on a safari nursery. I used the crib and dresser from Grayson’s room and he got an upgrade to a big boy bed.
It was important to me too keep the nursery clean and modern, yet classic. I hope I accomplished combining these opposites.
My dad and husband framed the back wall, inspired also by a master bedroom I saw on Pinterest, although the weekend before Carter’s arrival I almost changed that wall to a faux whitewashed brick wall… someday this could still happen but for now I will keep the classic framing.

Nautical Nursery

I have absolutely fallen in love with the way my son’s Nautical Nursery came out! It was was one of those rare occasions when the result matched the vision! I chose to do a true navy blue as I am a fan of strong bold colors and contrasts over soft pale blues. The room we chose for the nursery doesn’t get that much light so i decided to paint two thirds of the wall a bright white to brighten things up a bit. the chair rail sits a little higher than you typically see, but i wanted it to land above the headboard of the crib, and it helped to hide the less than clean line of paint where the navy blue met the white! I’m definitely a sucker for a good well pulled together theme, but i didn’t want anything that leaned too young – so i’m hoping we’ll be able to keep the decor for at least the first 5 years! I have a mixture of splurges and totally affordable pieces i found anywhere from PBK, Restoration Hardware to Hobby Lobby and Home Goods!

What are Little Boys Made of Nursery

Demetri is almost 3 and loves trains, rockets, robots and planes. We did not want to bind the room with only one theme, to have the option to tweak the room as he grows up to match his personality and likes. A custom cross stitch piece inspired by the nursery rhyme “What are little boys made of?” became the inspiration behind this room.
Seperate areas are created for different activities that a toddler enjoys; like his reading corner, a seating area where he can draw and play, and a drawing board to create a vertical surface for him to use. I also included a storage unit with bins for all his smaller items, this is also an easy way to teach him to pack away toys in specific places. I have left enough space for him to play with his train set on the floor and the steel chest is an ideal storage for all his trains.
I intended to create a neutral, modern looking space for this toddler room. It is bright and airy during the day and a calm area during the evening, just perfect for the little man to enjoy.

Bryce’s Rustic Meets Modern Monochrome Nursery

When I found out I was having a baby boy, I’ll be honest and say that I felt a little sense of panic when I thought about decorating a nursery. Before my daughter was born, I felt like I had a clear vision of the type of nursery I wanted for her, and had so much fun bringing that vision to life. But a boy’s room felt so foreign to me; I’ve grown up with all sisters and boy things were just not on my radar!
When it came time to really start putting the room together, I actually started finding my inspiration through Instagram. I’d found some Mama-owned shops that I’d been following for a while because I loved the beautiful and unique products they created. I started paying attention to their items that were more ‘boyish’ and began to see a pattern with the things I liked – they were mostly monochrome – black, white, gray, and natural wood tones, and had a whimsical edge to them. When I think of boys, I think of the outdoors, and starting pulling together items that featured mountains, camping, and various woodland creatures. I also needed the room to fit with the style of the rest of our home, which has a modern farmhouse vibe, and thought the wood planked wall would tie it all together.
For several months I continued to find more and more fantastic small businesses through Instagram and built a collection of my favorite finds. I loved that the items were unique and that I was helping another Mama somewhere in the world (so many of them are in Australia – I think there must be something in the water there that sparks incredible creativity among the ladies who live there!) I wasn’t sure how or if it would all come together, but once I really began decorating the room, I felt like it did and I’m so happy with the result.

Patrick’s Nursery | Buffalo Check Pattern with Lucite Nursery

As a graphic designer for the stationery brand, WH Hostess, I love bold prints, patterns and colors.  But when it came time to decorate my son’s nursery, I wanted it to be calm and serene.  A place to escape the chaos of the rest of the house (with an active three year old!), incorporating a lot of neutrals that would allow me to alter the look of it as he grows up.
We painted the walls navajo white, and beefed up the architectural interest in the very basic, square room, with crown molding and wider baseboards. I wanted the nursery to have a very updated classic feel – so I combined a bold, yet classic buffalo check pattern with lucite and brushed gold accents with our Pottery Barn Kids white furniture.  I’ve always loved the classic tales of Peter Rabbit, so I infused a few bunny accents in the artwork, table lamp and mobile above the crib.  To add warmth, I used a sisal rug and woven basket accents for storage.
There are two pieces in the nursery that are extra special: the gold trinket box that was my grandmother’s and the “Old Mother Hubbard” art hanging above the crib.  This piece has been in my family since 1915, and has hung in every baby’s nursery in my family since.  Starting with my grandfather, my mother and aunt, my nursery, my siblings and cousins, and now my niece and nephew, and my own children’s nurseries.  It’s such a special family heirloom and each child cherishes it as they grow up!
