Samantha’s Snow White Birthday

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? Birthday girl, Samantha! Rather than go the traditional princess party route for her 6th birthday, Sam wanted to go a little more classic… Snow White. She had some very specific desires: a cake “with Snow White frosting”, a Snow White “table cover”, Snow White decorations, and a visit from Snow White herself. Natch. Based on the day full of smiles, I’d say we brought her fairy tale to life!
The 8 little guests were royally greeted upon arrival and entered to see a Snow White themed snack table. The birthday girl’s initial was magically framed, making sure she took center stage. Using Snow’s attire as inspiration, we created a ball gown style table skirt, topped with blue satin and ties with red bows. Snow White themed décor is hard to come by, so we created them using graphics found on the internet. Guests snacked on “dwarf sized treats like mini caramel apples, veggies & hummus in decorated cups, marshmallow apple pops, and popcorn in cones with butterflies and birdies. We cut the wax cover on Babybel cheese to resemble bows—who ever said food can’t be decoration, too? A birdcage held the plates, utensils and napkins and was topped with a butterfly bought from the Dollar Store. A little beverage station encouraged adults to “Pick Their Poison”, while the kids filled Snow White inspired milk bottles with “Wishing Well Water” and “Evil Queen Lemonade.”
A kids table was not only inspired by Snow’s dress again- complete with red tulle bows on the chairs- but was covered with Snow White fabric. Tissue paper poms (from the Dollar Store, too!) were transformed into apple trees and used as centerpieces on the kids table and as a focal point on the snack table.
Snow White herself came to teach the little girls how to be princesses, read her fairy tale, and face paint. While kids were waiting to get their faces made-up, they decorated their own magic mirrors with gems and glitter stickers, which they could take home. The little princesses took home “Sweet Tweets”—birdie sugar cookies, bird whistles and chocolate eggs wrapped up in nests.

A Magical Unicorn Party for Saylor Rue

Our little Saylor is obsessed with all things unicorn and rainbow so it was a given that we would have them both at her magical 6th birthday party. Décor by Oh Joy and Paperchase were fab finds at Target and set the tone for fun! We had unicorn rides, yummy treats, and turns at the piñata!

Liesl’s 6th Birthday: Charlotte’s Web Themed Party

Party Description
Liesl is my eldest, animal-adoring daughter.  When the time rolled around to begin working on her party theme for her upcoming 6th birthday, she decided upon the theme herself – her favorite book (and movie), Charlotte’s Web.  She had just one party requirement, “I want pigs and animals at my party!”
Party Inspiration
When Liesl told me she wanted a Charlotte’s Web themed party, I knew there were a lot of things I could do for this theme!  I used the farm/barn/animals in the story for the main inspiration, but also lots of webs and some of Charlotte’s favorite web writings as accents.  This really is such a sweet theme for a birthday party because the story of Charlotte’s Web is really about true friendship!
Decorating Style
I used the ideas of “farm” and “county fair” together when decorating for this party.  In the book, Wilbur goes from Zuckerman’s barnyard to the County Fair, so this plays right into the theme of the book.  To make it more girly, I used pastel colors, and pink gingham tablecloths.  I used bales of hay throughout, but also incorporated things such as rosette ribbons, corn on the cob, and mini pies to go with the County Fair theme..
My Favorite Items
I fell in love with the handmade spider webs that Amy from Bella’s Perfect Party made.  I used them on the food card signage, but also ended up putting them on the barn centerpieces which made them picture perfect for the Charlotte’s Web theme. They were truly SO perfect for the party!!
I was thrilled with how the party favors turned out – they were something the kids could really use and enjoy, rather than just a bunch of junky toys.  The kids liked getting a stuffed big and a hardcover book of Charlotte’s Web to call their very own!
I also adored the Charlotte’s Web Cake Topper and animals made by Liz at Les Pop Sweets – she and I worked together to create this idea for the cake and I couldn’t have been happier!

My Party Advice
This party ending up being one of our largest let – we had about 95 kids and adults in attendance.  One key to a good party at your home is making sure there is enough things to keep the kids (of various ages) entertained.  We hired a petting zoo with farm animals to keep the kids occupied, but also had a “games master” referee to organize games (think tug of war, water balloon toss, sack race) for the other kids who weren’t as “into” the animals.   I also set up a craft table with Charlotte’s Web themed arts and crafts that drew a big crowd as well. It’s good to have something for everyone to enjoy!
Also, if planning a Charlotte’s Web themed party of your own, I would suggest shopping the day after Halloween to get a good deal on spiders, webs, and rats!

Genie: Make a WISH Birthday Party Theme

For my oldest daughter’s Genie: Make a Wish Birthday Party, we decided to do a fun “Your wish is my Command” spin and make it all about magical wishes and wishes coming true.
After we decided on this theme, I knew I needed to have Loralee Lewis to design and create the paper collection because I knew she could bring my vision to life and help me build and create this theme! Loralee created the most beautiful collection for this theme! We wanted the genie lamp to be the main focus throughout this theme and we also used our favorite Moroccan elements to bring this theme together.
