DIY: Make Your Bed, Part 1

| July 13, 2011

I wanted to share with you my latest DIY project. Adding baby #3 into the mix put us in a pickle that required some rearranging/redesigning. Bunking up the two older kiddos made the most sense; that way the upcoming arrival would get his own pad. Even though it was quite a bit of work since I am halfway through my pregancy, [...]

It’s never too late to honor June’s Room Project of the Month! We’ve held back this contest until we could update some important technical mumbo-jumbo. Our one of a kind gallery highlights all the incredible projects our community has to share and we wouldn’t want our readers and designing parents to miss out. June’s Project Gallery uploads offered quite a bit of of retro flair. Are we seeing a trend here? What do you think readers? Your votes do count!

Gallery Round Up: Funky Fab in 2011

| January 20, 2011

2011′s Project Gallery has me lacing up my roller skates and reaching for a James Brown vinyl. Funky patterns and dark contrasts are playing up nurseries in a fresh new way.

Isla’s Nursery answers the age old question “How do I work around white walls?” By using controlled pops of color within the bedding, wall art, and hampers, you can create a retro chic nursery full of hues…

Gallery Round Up: The Midnight Nursery

| November 1, 2010

As you know, Melisa has been working on a nursery makeover for her second son, Chase. I have to admit, when she first announced that she would incorporate black into the color scheme I told her that made me nervous. Silly me to doubt her designer eye because once I saw her inspiration board I was in awe! You’ll soon see what I mean when she reveals her work. Until then, let’s look at some fabulous midnight nurseries I found in our Project Gallery.

A Perfect Pairing: Navy & White

| October 26, 2010

One of my favorite color combinations for any room is navy & white. The itensity of the navy and crispness of the white are the perfect blend. I am in the process of changing my showroom window and used these inspirations to get the look…

Design Reveal: A Twin’s Nursery, “Just...

| October 13, 2010

I finished the installation on this nursery a few months ago and wanted to share the photos with Project Nursery readers. These are the first photos published for this nursery and additional room photos can be seen in the Project Nursery Gallery. These parents knew they were expecting twins but were waiting for the gender to be a surprise at birth (it turns out they had two beautiful daughters). Both parents grew up on the East coast so wanted to keep a traditional look to the room. Since the nursery has very dark walnut floors and we needed to soften the look of the room. We opted for white…

Using Red For Pop

| July 27, 2010

I am always trying to find a way to add “pop” in a room. Often times the easiest way to add it is with color. Red seems so obvious at times…perhaps because of all the colors in the rainbow red is the most dramatic.  Which is why…a little or a lot of red as an [...]
