Think Pink!

Posted in Bassinet, Gear, Gifts by Little Apple Design LA

Welcome to Fall, October and most importantly Breast Cancer Awareness month. The next time you shop, “Think Pink!” A great number of boutiques and online retailers are donating a portion of their proceeds this month to support the cause. We thought we would highlight a few special items so when buying a little something for the wee one, you too are contributing to the fight!

The Moses Basket - A handy tool for a precious newborn. We think it also makes an impressive shower gift to fill with goodies. Once baby grows, it’s a terrific basket to store stuffed animals and baby dolls.

Project Nursery of course endorses Project Pink. How could we not? Add to your bathroom’s decor with a little pink rub-a-dub-dub in the tub!

Support breast cancer awareness in a surprisingly sweet way with this innovative baking set sold for $14.99 at Target!

Registering for a Jogger? Look to the Schwinn Hope Single Jogging Stroller in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Go beyond decorating your kids ceiling with stars, Stand Up To Cancer and buy a star within our universe’s constellation for $1.

And we can’t forget a little something for Mom! Enjoy Bobbi Brown’s exclusive, limited-edition set featuring Pink Quartz Glitter Lip Gloss and Tulle Lip Color.

Proud parents Restoration Hardware just delivered “Baby & Child“. Weighing in at a perfect 10, her features are elegant, clean and classic.
Now you can continue the chic look of your home into the nursery. Just another example of why baby’s nursery doesn’t have to be “themey”. We’ll be linking to Restoration Hardware often of course but in the meanwhile, please take a moment to enjoy their site www.rhbabyandchild.com. It’s quite fabulous!

Get Inspired: Morgan’s Nursery Makeover

Posted in Baby Nurseries, Bedding, Lighting, Wall Art by admin

Morgan’s Mom came to Project Nursery in search of baby nursery design inspiration. The family is moving into a fabulous new home with a whole new realm of possibilities. Morgan is a one year old, darling little girl who loves pink, pink and more pink! Ok, maybe it’s Mom who loves pink but Morgan needs a girly room that can easily transition with her from baby to toddler. Our goal is to incorporate all of Morgan’s current furniture and bedding into a new design, different from her previous nursery. Project Nursery and Mom Carla are having a blast coming up with ideas and we want your input! Take a look at Morgan’s before photos:

Morgan’s new room, a blank canvas:
According to Mom:

“Right now I feel it is so plain. Here is what I would love to accomplish: I want to keep the crib, armorer and dresser for sure. Not married to the bookshelves, but I feel I need a place for her “stuff”. I also want to keep the valance, beautifully made from Grandma and all of the wall art we have now, which is slim to none! I would say my style is more of a clean lines look and not too whimsical. I really love stripes and polka dots - mixing of patterns - monograms & initials. I hate clutter! I love things that look organized and in their place. I really need help with the walls. The paint colors are very important. I think they can make a room. I am also open to painting something on the wall like an “M” or something. Also a possible photo gallery on the wall. I need the extra special touches that complete the space: Shelves, frames, stuffed animals. I would say that my style is a mix between Pottery Barn Kids and Dwell. Thanks for your help! I am so excited to get started on the nursery!”

Presenting the Project Nursery design board created especially for Miss Morgan:
Morgan’s bedding from Little House by Annette Tatum in “Pashmina Pink” incorporates playful patterns such as strips, dots, paisleys as well soft cotton, chenille and velvety textures. So we say, let’s play up those polka dots found on the crib sheet! For a focal point, use these beautiful wall decals from Etsy shop Lewa’s Vinyl Designs or simply paint above Morgan’s crib and add a monogram.

Morgan’s current table lamp is made of pink crystals. Continue the look with a dazzling lighting fixture from our favorite couture lighting designer, Maura Daniel. If a photo gallery is what you are looking for, try blowing up your precious moments onto stretched canvas with Shutterfly. Lean these oversized photos on top of the armoire away, from baby’s reach. A great way to add height and a contemporary feel to the room.

Stretch and starch the current window valance for a more tailored look. Use textured drapes underneath from floor to ceiling - yet another way to create height.
Careful what you choose to display above the changing table. These flirty butterfly mirrors from Potterybarn Kids are lightweight. Secure with extra glue dots so little hands can’t tear them away from the wall. Sleek shelves with a circle detail provides additional storage above.

So will Morgan make the leap and paint her room green instead of pink? Do you like our ideas? Can you help? Share your suggestions and comments with Project Nursery and Morgan below this posting by clicking “Comments”. We look forward to hearing from you!

***Newsflash! Looks like Morgan is going with pink walls afterall. Maybe she’ll refer to our Pinkititis posting for ideas? Stay tuned for Morgan’s complete makeover update in the coming weeks….

Get Inspired: Double the Trouble

…but Twice as Nice!

Let’s face it: As a first time mom, it’s difficult enough planning for the arrival of one baby. I could barely maneuver the registry process let alone try to figure out what I would need two of.
Mom Amanda either had some great help or she’s just an excellent multi-tasker. Either way, at the end of the day (or in this case, pregnancy) we are pleased to showcase the perfect pink and green nursery for Amanda’s two darling daughter’s Sophia and Kate.

It was important for Amanda to create a bright and cheery room for not only her twin girls but also for herself since she would be spending most of her time in the nursery during the early months. Once she discovered the oh so charming “Lucy” from the gorgeous baby couture bedding line (and my personal favorite), Serena & Lily, she was inspired to begin her nursery project.

The crib bedding, wall art and changing pad cover were all purchased from the lovely online women and children’s boutique, Layla Grayce. Target’s “Simply Shabby Chic” bed linens beautifully compliment her designer crib duds.

To customize your baby’s nursery, you don’t have to be an artist and paint a mural. The devil is in the detail. One of my favorite details in the twins room are the drawer pulls on the baby changing table/dresser. It only took Amanda a few minutes to spray paint the handles a bold pink to tie into the room’s pink accents. A simple DIY detail that makes all the difference.

Soft green walls are wonderful and neutral but finding the right green isn’t always easy. I recently learned this lesson while helping my friend choose a green for her little girl’s room. Next time I’ll take a cue from the twins room and suggest Behr’s Disney Paint Collection sold at Home Depot: Christopher Robin’s Swing, dc4a-30-2.

The rockers for mommy and babies are not only practical but give off that shabby chic vibe. The playful pink seating area for the twins gets plenty of use during story time. Besides, every room needs a personalized soft seat for their little one from Pottery Barn Kids (which makes a great baby gift).

And finally, a reminder that accessories do matter. Hanging sweet tutu’s, displaying customized plates, cuddly friends and pink piggy banks complete the room, making it perfect in every way!
