Posted in Baby Nurseries, Play Rooms, Toddler Rooms by Little Apple Design LA

Congrats to blogging friends Tiny Decor for launching their entirely eco-friendly boutique this month! Tiny Decor promotes “naturally modern” nurseries and they do so with great style and fresh designs. What better way to kick off your eco-friendly nursery or playroom with inspiration boards from their Nursery Design Guide created by owner and designer, Jackie Hernandez.  The beauty of the boards goes beyond it’s modern design…All of the items featured maybe purchased directly from Tiny Decor for one stop shop convenience!

Serenity With Amenity

Posted in Bedding, Blankets, Wall Art by Little Apple Design LA

Fawn&Forest recently introduced Amenity’s latest collection of serene forest life for the nursery. Think wetlands, nature preserves and modern Bambi. Amenity’s sweet organic pillows, blankets, bedding and prints provide a soothing escape from primary colored, battery operated toys and flashing lights. Charming descriptions also make them that much more lovable…

The Woodland Collection “Among the violet wildflowers, whimsical squirrels scamper after acorns and butterflies. Their playful smiles are sure to be contagious.”

The Wetlands Collection “At the watery edges of the ocean, a blue pool warmed by the sun and surrounded by reeds is the most natural habitat for a young family of ducks out for their first swim.”

Giveaway: It’s More Than Just A T-Shirt

Posted in Clothes, Gear, Giveaways by Little Apple Design SF

On our way back from Lake Tahoe we made a pit stop in the cute college town of Davis to grab a bite and tire the little tikes out in an attempt to achieve some road peace for the remainder of the drive back to San Francisco. I was delighted to discover the cutest little t-shirt shop ever! It’s called nina and tom, a husband and wife team who are all about creating handmade shirts and baby onesies with original, bold and lively designs and phrases. Nina says, “We believe in having your child wear a t-shirt that is as unique and fun as they are. We believe that nina and tom baby onesies, kids and adult t-shirts are more than just t-shirts, they are truly something special.”

Nina and Tom share a passion for the environment and all their shirts are made in the USA from 100% cotton. These guys are so cool they were even featured in the book Gorgeously Green, written by Sophie Uliano with a forward by Julia Roberts. I purchased the “I’m Like Totally Organic” tee for my daughter and it was a smash hit at preschool this week. Other favorites of mine are the “ABCs” organic tee and the “I’m this many” birthday shirt. Lots to love so check them out and maybe you will want to pick up an adult tee like the “This Mama is For Obama” (Or not, we at PN steer clear of politics and just stick to design). Because they have such positive, feel-good messages and a care for the environment, it makes spending just 20 bucks on a shirt feel like a good deed.

Comment to win a $50 gift certificate towards any nina and tom loot! One lucky Project Nursery reader will win and it could be YOU! Contest rules are below. Good Luck:

Green Rooms In A Box Or Silver Platter?

Posted in Furniture, Paint, Recycle, Shelves, Toddler Rooms by Little Apple Design LA

I am totally impressed! Rather than hiring a designer, I can now stalk Jennae Petersen of Green Your Decor and I am likely to have my next room design served on a silver platter via the worldwide web. Her inspiration boards are sooo beautiful and she makes it so simple to buy. Best of all, it’s all green decor so you can feel good about some of her splurge item!

Recently, Jennae posted two children’s room within her “Green Rooms in a Box” design series to dream about. Check out her Green Girls Room for under $2500 and her Green Boys Room for under $5000.  We cannot wait to see what she does with a nursery!

Organic Luxury

Posted in Blankets, Gifts, Reader Discounts, Recycle by admin

You’ve used the expression “warm and cozy” to describe a blanket but how about “healthy and elegant”? Two moms’ love of family, environment and fashion have come together to create Robbie Adrian, manufacturer of quality, organic baby blankets.

Mommy-to-be Tamara tipped us off on this hot find that celebrity mommies such as Christina, Katie, and Jessica know so well. Eco-friendly Robbie Adrian blankets are available in flirty silk ruffles or simple piping designs. Offered in plush 100% certified organic cotton velour or soft 100% certified organic cotton fleece, baby sizes start at $44 and they even make adult sizes. An ideal gift for welcoming a new mom or newborn into the world.

Robbie Adrian is also kind enough to extend a 10% discount to Project Nursery Readers. Please mention code “PN “at checkout. Oh and the gift box also happens to be just as pretty!

Get Inspired: Boldly Colored and Environmentally Sensitive

Posted in Furniture, Recycle, Seating, Shelves by admin

Last week Oprah put families to the test and asked them give up everything they could live without in an effort to waste less. Yesterday afternoon, New Yorkers celebrated Earth Day in Central Park with music, games and fun for the whole family. So what are you doing to teach your kids to be “Green”? Like me, there’s probably a lot more you could be doing. Besides carrying the stylish Whole Foods “Better Bag” tote to and from the grocery store, I could start to think about those big ticket items, like furniture. What better place to influence your young by starting in their very own room?

And no, the furniture doesn’t have to be made of cardboard as featured in my previous recycling post. Save a tree or save one of these stunning eco-conscience nursery designs in your idea book by Storm Interiors, our featured Project of the Week.

Going green starts young these days and designers are taking notice. Los Angeles based, Storm Interiors cater to the eco-conscience in-crowd by providing top notch design services and custom furniture options. Here are just some of their pieces to satisfy your need for green:

Storm Re-Rugs™: These unique, recycled rugs are made from manufacturer’s un-used carpet remnants, utilizing durable but plush fabrications and designed with special motifs. Custom colors, sizes, and designs available.

The Rock N’ Wave™: Storm’s fully upholstered child and adult friendly rocker inspired from the Pantone rocker. This rocking chair is comfortable and unique. The interior is made from an environmentally friendly synthetic down and frame made from alder wood.

Hide N’ Seek Unit: A Storm Custom large storage unit featuring open shelves detailed with Asian lines with three large pot drawers below for hiding the not-so-pretty items or extra storage. Made from alder wood obtained from green resources certified by the FSC, and utilizing re-purposed vintage hardware.

And don’t forget to check out The Eco-Tottoman™ while your at it. Pricey, it just may be, but after all, it’s good for the environment, (right honey?).
