Zoe + Grayson’s Twin Nursery

Description

My boy + girl twins' gender-neutral nursery! I REFUSED to do anything yellow or green...so we went with polka dots and pops of color.

Design Inspiration

I was inspired by having a modern yet cozy space for my boy-and-girl twins that didn't include yellow or green. Circles/polka dots allowed me to bring in various pops of color so far. I'm in search for the perfect mobile via Etsy and bookshelf...we're still a work-in-progress!

Decorating Style

Grounded furniture with darker tones, and pops of color, lightness and whimsy through accessories + other decor. I am a photographer so many of the rooms in my house are filled with large prints and frames.

Project Details

DIY--the canvases on the wall were our alternative to Anthro. We bought fabric from our local fabric store and stretched it over canvases bought from our local arts-and-crafts store!

Favorite Items

The canvases we created for our kids.

Advice

Have fun, and don't feel you "have" to do anything. (E.g. We refused to be like every other child in America with their names on the wall, so we tried to get creative with our art and are still working on the final details!)

Where did you get your furniture from (crib & changing table)? I love how it looks.

Thanks everyone! Our house is from 1930 and the floors are a rare Northern Wisconsin wood--yellow birch. @Alicebilyeu, yes, we made the wall art by wrapping canvases in some of our favorite fabrics bought at a local store. No more recent pics for now...still searching for that perfect mobile + bookshelf! :)

I am in LOVE with this!  I am prego with our 3rd child & we are going to put our 6 year old & 4 year old in a room together.  I am going to TRY to create something like this for their room.  Questions: do you have any recent pics of additions you've made to the room?  And, did you make the wall art? I'm thinking I could incorporate some girly prints (not too girly though) & boyish prints to hang above each of their beds.......Anyway, thanks for the inspiration! :)

Your floors are gorgeous! They really set the darker colors off. Is it maple? This room seems very natural to me with the stained wood trim (ah I miss that!), the beautiful floors, colorful fabric, even the textural rocking horse. I love this room - not too matchy-matchy or eclectic.
