A Whimsical Basement Playroom

Description

We transformed a neutral basement space into a colorful playroom for our toddlers. We used many items that we already had on hand and lots of organization to create a cozy, whimsical space to enjoy the winter months. We painted one wall with chalkboard paint, strung up some outdoor cafe lights and hung some art on the walls.

Design Inspiration

My inspiration included lots of searching on Pinterest and seeing how other people had created playrooms. I ultimately wanted the space to feel cheerful and kid friendly, but also organized. It's in a basement with just one window, so brightness was key!

Favorite Items

I love the art table, because we use it daily for coloring, painting, playdough, and even have lunch there sometimes.

Advice

Kids toys and books are naturally very colorful, so the furniture and other items in the room should be neutral- that way the room feel modern and fresh without being too chaotic.
