Twin Girls’ Serene Nursery

Description

We are expecting twins girls in April, and wanted to create a very serene and feminine space for them.  I wanted a neutral room that could feel peaceful despite the inevitable chaos that comes with caring for infant twins, but also with enough pops of color and fun touches to make it visually stimulating for the girls.

Design Inspiration

We sought to create a subtle woodland theme that isn't too over the top or "baby-ish".  The adorable wall decal from etsy, and a few strategically placed woodland plush animals hopefully does the trick!

Project Details

Our biggest challenge was our space constraint.  We live in a 2-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn, so the girls' room also needs to double as a guest room for when my parents are in town.  We bought a very comfy pull-out loveseat from Room and Board that will be great for guests, and also for snuggling with the girls during feedings and storytime.  By the way, we've heard that when it comes to nursing twins - gliders are usually too small, and loveseats are the only way to go - making the loveseat a really good choice for us all around.

Our crib is from Ikea and it's such a great value!  I searched long and hard for a crib that is small enough to fit the room, with a height that wouldn't overwhelm the space. The girls are sharing a crib for the first few months.  We have a second identical crib in storage that we're planning to bring out once they get bigger - and believe it or not, two cribs can actually fit into this room.
