Tea Time: A Little Girl’s Tea & Doll Birthday Party

Description

My daughter Gigi loves a great party! This year for her birthday she wanted to combine two of her favorite things - yummy treats and her American Girl Doll. Thus, the idea to host a classic tea party for the girl's and their dolls in honor of Gigi's 7th birthday was born.

Design Inspiration

We decided to have the party somewhere very special - Crown & Crumpet in San Francisco's Ghiradelli Square. The space is beautiful, bright and cheery and doesn't require a lot of extra decor. It feels like you have been transported to London for tea and crumpets! We went with this cheeky, British vibe and kept the party true to a classic high tea feel only with more color, fun and crafts.

Project Details

Crown & Crumpet handled most of the party decor details which made it easy for mom. I brought some extra tea themed crafts for the girl's to enjoy while they waited for their tea service. We also had a "fireside" story time in the lounge area with a special guest appearance from Mary Poppins!

Favorite Items

Gigi loved everything about the party - the towers of scones, tea sandwiches and crumpets along with steaming pots of pink fruit tea or hot chocolate. The girls loved lining their dolls up on the love seats so they were sure to be comfy and have front row seats when Mary arrived!

Advice

If hosting a party at your home doesn't work or is too overwhelming work with local shops to see if you can pull off something unique and special. With just a little extra effort the party will feel like a private event you've pulled off all by yourself!

Looks like a great party! The little ladies must've all felt so fancy in such a pretty setting, enjoying a proper high tea.
