Sweet, and Oh So Girly Nursery

Description

A sweet, but oh so girly nursery. This DIY nursery was done on a strict budget. We started with installing crown moulding and painting a bright, but calming color on the walls. Then we added some touches DIY style--including a ruffled crib skirt in coral and a matching valance. We then made some adorable frames to showcase our baby girl's name.

Design Inspiration

We wanted to mimic the look of so many nurseries we saw on Project Nursery, Pinterest, and Etsy without purchasing expensive crib bedding sets and furniture.

We started with a pillow we found at Target as our inspiration for the colors we wanted in the nursery--coral, blue, gray, white, and yellow!

Decorating Style

Our decorating style is simple, functional, but beautiful. That may mean we have some modern thrown in with some country and old thrown in the with new.

Our motto is "If you love a piece, it will work in the room you best see it in. If it's interesting and appealing to you, it will be to someone else too!"

Project Details

Most of this room was DIY, including the crib skirt, crib sheet, window valance,  burlap wreath, twine-wrapped bottle, and name frames.

A few of the purchases we made were the crib pillow and bird wall hangings, which were purchased at Target.

The jewelry and ribbon holder/mirror was a gift purchased from Kohls.

The blue lamp is a Better Homes and Garden brand lamp purchased at Walmart.

Favorite Items

My favorite item in the room is the coral, ruffle crib skirt and valance. It creates a sophisticated, but adorable look and is perfect for a girl's room.

Advice

You can always find pieces you want to include in your nursery. However, when on a budget, one can get frustrated. Don't be! There are so many ways you can DIY your own beautiful nursery without breaking the bank.

Find a piece you love--whether that be a crib set you have, a pillow, a blanket, etc--and build from it. The possibilities are endless when you choose for yourself the items to go into your nursery. The room becomes more personal and inviting when you can hand pick and hand make items especially for your little one.

Most of all, create an enjoyable and welcoming space--there will be many sleepless nights in this room!
