Sugar and Spice Baby Shower

Description

My cousin (who is like my sister) is having a baby! She is a wedding planner with great style so I knew it had to be special. We went for paisleys, florals and swirls and shied away from anything too "babyish" but pulled in fun stuff like vintage pink pacifiers and diaper details. I think it turned out pretty fun!

Design Inspiration

My inspiration came from a floral and paisley image from Vistaprint where I had all the printables done. My mom later lost them all, but at least the invitation went out :)

Project Details

My favorites were the diaper cake centerpieces. I made several single tier cakes around small vases taht could be filled with florals in the party colors- I wrapped them with a ribbon and vintage looking pacifier (found these super cheap at Hobby Lobby). I also made my own tissue poms, the scrapbook style collage for the food table, the tissue paper "S", and all of the flag banners (paper purchased from Michaels and Hobby Lobby). I really appreciate hand-made details so I try to do as much as I can myself.

Favorite Items

I take it back- the full size diaper cake was my favorite- I tried to keep the same ribbins and flags used throughout the party and topped it with a knit baby cap that matched perfectly :)

Advice

I loved combining patterns that seemed like they would clash but instead really meshed well because the color palette was the same

thank you! i was very kucky to come across a set of four straight sided juice glasses at a thrift store for $1. They were probably 2(ish) inches in diameter and 2/3 the height of the diapers. I just placed it in the center of the rolled up diapers and put a piece of packing tape all the way around to hold it snug. it then got covered with the wide ribbon, though i had to cut it a bit to make it invisible in certain places. Then i just used them to hold a bit of water and the cut flowers- it was so easy and everyone loved them. The flag banner was like you said- just paper, glue and ribbon or yarn.

How was it that you made the diaper cake vases again? I love that idea. For your banners, did you just hot glue the paper triangles to the ribbon? Everything was very dainty and beautiful ;-)
