- A Project For: S.
- Age: 2 years old
- Location: Malibu, Ca
-
Description:
After moving to Malibu, Ca, S. needed to move from a baby to a toddler room. We left some room for a future sibling (an extra crib and rocker), since any future children would be sharing a room with S.! Navy and white stripes, along with red accents keep the nautical feel.
-
Design Inspiration:
The beautiful navy color (Berh primer + paint) that inspired the crisp stripes along one of the walls. The nautical accents followed.
-
Decorating Style:
Traditional with a bit of mid century modern. I love clean, simple stated rooms.
-
Project Details:
If painting stripes...use Frog tape! It was a life saver! I was able to tape and paint the stripes on my own in a few hours! (For the how to click on my blog: http://blogpoulet.blogspot.com/ ) I LOVE Etsy...they have a ton of original nautical artwork.
-
Favorite Items:
I love the stripes along the wall. Favorite items include: the Land of Nod preserver pillow and the "Sammy the Seagull" print.
-
Advice:
Take your time to search stores and the internet for items you really love. The nautical look is popular these days and there is a ton to choose from. By narrowing it down to the items that feel personal ,and representing your style, is how you'll create a room you'll love. Keep kids clutter hidden! I bought (and LOVE!) ikea's storage towers. With a nautical room you want it to be clear of clutter, and these towers, in the closet, help to keep S.'s toys organized and under control.
