Being my December baby, a winter onederland 1st birthday party sounded like a great idea. The house is already decorated for Christmas, why not add a few more elements to pull a first birthday together.
Snowflakes, winter, & the colors of her room (neutral/burlap, gray & pink)
Free Printables Online: Pinterest
(melted snowflakes water bottle labels, snowflake garland, cupcake toppers, Happy Birthday banner, chalkboard sign & food labels)
Paper Straws: Etsy purchased from More Sprinkled Joy- She customized my straws to match the colors of the party. SUPER cute & affordable!
Reusable mason jars for drinks or decor
Table Runners/Burlap: Hobby Lobby & Target
Decor: Borrowed or already owned...snowflakes, glass dishes, garland etc. Trees on the mantel & dessert table were mostly mine or my moms.
Ribbon: Hobby Lobby
Chalkboard Labels: Target
Burlap Name Banner: Walmart & DIY
Food: Easy soup & salad bar with cheesballs & crackers. Dessert bar including lots of Holiday treats- Chocolate dipped oreos, pretzels, & rice krispy treats, Oreo truffles, donut holes (snowballs) & of course cupcakes & the snowflake smash cake.
Pink Punch: Raspberry sherbet, sprite & pink lemonade
Snowflake garland backdrop, DIY Birthday Hat, DIY grow with me banner, snowflake mason jar glasses with straws, & of course her adorable snowflake smash cake & birthday outfit!
I like to spend more time & energy on a party than money. I try to borrow or reuse as many items as possible & go with a theme that is seasonally easy to find items for. For a cold december night, soup & salad was an easy menu choice & guests could enjoy hot chocolate afterwards. The favors were little take home bags they could fill with treats from the dessert bar. For a first birthday, we tried to do something very special but on a budget & the timing fit a winter onederland theme best!
