Design Inspiration

Inspiration was from TomKat Studio and her daughter's Rainbow Heart birthday party.

Decorating Style

Keeping the design consistent throughout the party. Love putting theme parties together and coming up with ideas and especially the party favors are my favorite part.

Project Details

Cookie decorating and egg dying were the activities for the girls. They were given personalized aprons at the beginning of the party to protect their clothes from the dye.  It was a 10am party so we served brunch, quiche, french toast, rainbow fruit skewers, popcorn in rainbow boxes and salad for adults. We used various flavors of Gatorade in rainbow colors. Egg decorating with a big hit with the girls as well as the moms. They were happy the mess of dying eggs was happening at someone elses house instead of theirs. Decorations were made by hand. Construction hearts were cut out using heart shape cookie cutter. Dollar Store balloons and plastic table cloths were hung up the night before with a needle and heave gauge fish line. These ideas were inspired by Pinterest.

Gumballs were separated by color and put in glass jars for decor.  Favor bags were given at the end that consisted of a bag of rainbow skittles, rainbow erasers, rainbow markers and a candy jewelry making kit.

Favorite Items

The balloon banner that we found on Pinterest. Balloons from the dollar store. Great idea of using a needle and fish line and threading the balloons in a row. Simple and yet looks elegant and grand.

Advice

I recommend using 10" cake pans when doing a rainbow cake. This way the layers are not too thick and I recommend to dye the frosting in between each cake layer the color of that cake. So when you cut through the cake the white frosting doesn't smear the cake layers. We bought colored fondant and used heart shaped cookie cutter to decorate the outside of the cake.
