Description

My daughter, Poppie Ainsley's room was inspired by the family board game, Candy Land. We began the process by painting the room a great Tiffany blue color and then candy striped the ceiling pink, red and white (talk about a tough task at seven months pregnant). I then painted the Candy Land mural on one wall. We kept the cost of the room low by using a floor model "Toys R Us" Amy Coe Crib and Target Brand furniture. Little accents like polka dotted knobs made the pieces look way more expensive than they actually were! We painted an 80% off clearance mirror frame bright red and balanced the color of the room with the round, white, textured rug. A couple of leftover Valentine's Day floor pillows added wonderful color and shape. The art is simply framed game cards from Candy Land. Finally brightly colored candy was placed in jars through out the room for a little extra fun. We love it! I hope you do as well!

Favorite Items

My favorite thing in the room ended up being the crib bedding.  I found an AMAZING bedding designer on www.etsy.com  named Jayna.  We worked together and created a completely custom look for Poppie's room.  Her username on Etsy is "Rocky Top Designs".

Advice

I think working with a theme is always fun.  Just remember things that you loved when you were little and why.  Create a budget friendly plan to achieve the look you are going for.

At the end of the project, I knew I would want some great pictures.  I found a high school kid looking to major in photography at college and had him come over to the house to practice his skills. He got great experience and I got fantastic photos!

A candyland nursery. Now this is a first of its kind I have seen. I mean, people think of creating nurseries or rooms and connote it with sleep. This candyland nursery makes me want to eat! With such sweetness in the details, this room inspires nothing but happy thoughts.
