Description
Since we had a gender reveal dinner for our son, when we found out we were expecting our second, who we called Pea Pod, I knew we had to do the same. Also the planning made waiting to find out a little easier. After we had our elective early gender scan at 16 weeks and found out the gender of our little "Pea Pod" we gathered our close family and friends at my parents home and decorated with gender neutral green pea pods. I ordered cupcakes froma friend of a friend and had the centers filled with the correct color frosting, and we had a cook out. After everyone finished eating they were allowed to bite into the cupcake and find out "Its a GIRL!"

Pea Pods, I took the nickname we had for our second child and used it as a theme for this party, and it worked out perfect.

Project Details
I think a lot of people neglect music for parties, and I like everything to go with the theme of the party, so I mixed a cd with songs that were perfect for baby boys and girls. I also hired a friend of a friend, Krystal Lewis, to make neutral looking cupcakes topped with Pea Pods in chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry with pink frosting inside so that when people bit in they would see that Pea Pod was a She Pod ;) I also ordered pink and blue pacifier necklaces for guests to wear based on if they thought the baby was going to be a boy or a girl since not everyone wore pink or blue as requested that way I could get photos of who guessed what before we actually let everyone know if they were right or not. I bought green bottle shaped boxes an typed a short poem on them and filled them with votive sized baby powder candles from Yankee Candle for favors.
Favorite Items
I think the cd I mixed with songs about baby girls and boys to play was probably my favorite after the cupcakes of course. I included songs like "All American Girl" by Carrie Underwood, and "If He's Anything Like Me" by Brad Paisley as well as neutral songs like "My Wish" by Rascall Flats
