Parker Jean’s Nursery

Description

I used a focus point and that was on the chair...I loved the pattern and then ended up finding the owl wall decor and everything started to fall into place!

Design Inspiration

I really wanted to do something really special for this little bundle of joy I would soon meet.  I really wanted it to come from my heart, which is why I chose to do a lot myself :)

Decorating Style

I love the modern sheik look!

Project Details

The chair was bought from a fabric store in Tennessee which was my main focus of this room. I have always loved polka dots and ended up doing a circular pattern and painting those ourselves. I really wanted to add something else to this room and I found the owl decal on Dali Decals website. From there I just started finding owls everywhere. I did a lot myself and walking through Hobby Lobby will inspire any crafty person for different projects.  This is where I got the wooden letters for her name and initials. I painted them and tied bows for the ones above her crib and glued the initials to some boards I sponge painted. DYI can be very fun :)  I found the crib at Target as well as the changing table.  My only problem was finding bedding to go with that AMAZING chair.  I searched and searched....and one night I was scanning through websites and found a create your own layout of bedding and you can choose from a  ton of different fabrics.  Carousel Designs has such amazing bedding. My only thing I was missing was a rug and found this rug that went perfect with her room on Overstock.com.  I really never thought about all the possibilities of a nursery until I started. It was so much fun.  It was a lot of LONG nights painting and putting things together, but honestly doing things yourself really makes it so special.

Advice

Think outside the box when doing things yourself. You can seriously walk through a craft store and think of exciting ways to put things together for cheap and make it look elegant and sheik.

Never really thought lavender and green make such a good color combination, but I guess you made it work.
