Soft Safari Baby Blues

Designing our sons nursery originally started with a coastal inspiration. I rushed an placed my order for crib bedding, found the perfect shelves and then we decided to move…. to the country! I really didn’t want to continue with the theme living “out west” but wanted to keep the base items I already had and that’s when I found the most perfect wallpaper foe his nursery! I adore this wallpaper that allowed me to keep the warm, neutral tones and baby blues! I love that it gives me the same feeling our daughters nursery did; it’s not too babyish, room to grow (with them and design projects to come), flows with our house while standing out and just feels calming.
I love wallpaper in babies/kids rooms! It gives you such a great foundation to bring in classic neutral pieces that you can reuse for another baby down the road (his rocker, crib and dresser were all from big sisters nursery!) and it leaves such a fun start to their big kid room!

SomeBunny Loves You Nursery

I had so much fun designing this Mid-Century #boho bunny nursery for our baby girl – coming Fall 2021!
Ever since I was a little girl decorating has been my passion. I never actually played with Barbie’s- I designed their living spaces and would create Barbie condos inside our living room bookshelves. When we found out we were having a baby GIRL my creative juices started flowing – THE NURSERY. My pregnancy has had may challenges and her nursery became my happy place and the best distraction ever. I am so grateful.
Wall Color: Etiquette AF-50 | Benjamin Moore
I wanted our daughter to be surrounded by style, beauty and a touch of charm. I was going for a Mid-Century Modern meets #boho chic vibe. I was on the prowl for wooden, antique brass, macramé and vintage accents. We were fortunate enough to receive that gorgeous #MCM 8-drawer (maple?) dresser, passed down by my husband’s grandparents- which became the focal point of her nursery. I changed out the dresser knobs with a glam white marble/brushed brass style pull. Continuing the Mid-Century mood, we incorporated a white wooden crib with slanted legs and a gold tripod floor lamp in the corner of the room. I was obsessed with West Elm’s velvet curtains, but couldn’t swallow the price, so I found plush faux velvet drapes in Ballet Pink from Amazon for around $45. The bracket shelves were a steal from Ikea and so much fun to style… I found random accessories from TJ Maxx and Target’s dollar spot! The floating shelves above the changing dresser display simple, dainty pictures, candles and a rainbow abacus. I wanted a #Rattan piece displayed above the changing dresser and found this 9″ Rattan mirror from Ikea for only $29.99! The area rug was on sale from Bed, Bath & Beyond in a neutral geometric pattern! I found the cutest mini #Rattan mirrors from a local shop in town called Mis Plantitas. The accordion hook rack was like $6 from Amazon and made for the perfect headband holder. The light grey glider was actually from my son’s nursery and ordered from Wal-Mart (great quality and price) – see his nursery gallery “It’s a Wild World” for the glider link. The side-by side bunny photos are from Amazon – I believe the brand is Kate & Laurel… they are canvases framed in natural wood. Last, but not least- the nesting tables… they were a steal from HomeGoods, tying together the brass accents around the room, like the curtain rod, dresser drawer knobs and closet door handles. For anyone looking to create a darling nursery on a budget- you can do it! It is possible. We found everything from Amazon, Ikea, TJ Maxx, Target, Target’s dollar spot and Bed, Bath & Beyond. My motto is- it’s not what it costs, it’s how you style it. *BIG shoutout to my Uncle Chris for hanging everything for us! Also, our friend Phil for painting her room! Much appreciated!

Blush Sophistication Big Girl Room

Never, EVER, did I think I would paint a room blush pink.  Yet, here we are and…I LOVE it!  Now, let’s get to the back story.
We moved into our beautiful, new (to us) home in March of 2020.  Yes, right at the start of the pandemic.  It was a tough time for our sweet girl, her whole world had been turned upside down in a matter of weeks.  Once we were settled, I knew I wanted to make her room special and something that she would love as she grows up (I’m not crying…).
Her room at the new house has beautiful vaulted ceilings, two bright windows, and ample space to spread out.  She had spent her time distance learning in our dining room this past year, but I was ready to reclaim my space and give her some much needed privacy (cue seven year old attitude).  We were on a pretty tight budget as we are doing other projects around the house.  Thank goodness for Target!  We found the perfect desk, bookcases, and accessories.  Great quality, affordable and so, so cute!
Together, we chose the perfect blush pink, Head Over Heels by Benjamin Moore.  She squealed in delight as I painted all that luscious pinkness on the walls.  I have to be honest, it felt a little pink overload at first.  However, once we put everything back into the room and added those pops of turquoise…wow, I was a little jealous!  I painted the wooden storage bins to match the turquoise in the throw pillow.  They give that perfect pop of color in the book cases while still providing cute storage.
The dollhouse also received a little makeover.  Fresh paint, some new furniture and decor.  It’s a favorite amongst my daughters friends when they come over for a playdate.  And, let’s be honest, me too.
What I love about paint is how it transforms a space for not a lot of money.  It really allows you to be creative and bold.  My daughter and I had a great time creating her new space together and I know it’s something we will love for years to come.

A Neutral Soft Nursery With Plants

When I was pregnant with my first child, I dreamed of a neutral baby’s room that would stay beautiful through the years. So I went for this boho-style nursery by adding soft colors such as: white, black, beige and a slight touch of green as seen in the plants, handmade knitted blanket and teddy bear. It is therefore easy to create a room using second-hand and DIY accessories.
To make it work, you only need to add a few plants here and there such as this beautiful artificial bird of paradise, also called the strelitzia plant. It will really create a nice tropical vibe in the room. You could as well go for a small houseplant just like I did on top of a dresser or the baby’s changing table.
I must say another good purchase was that black and white playrug from Clement. It allows your baby to stretch and play while being comfortable at the same time. Make sure you get comfy pajamas as well like these ones from Aubainerie.
I’m in love with the final result ! Yes, it is absolutely possible to make an affordable yet beautiful nursery, here is the proof !!!

Neutral & Elegant Nursery

What can I say about this airy coastal-inspired nursery? It’s soft, elegant, minimal and just so effortlessly breezy. The design all came to life when my client shared a few products she had fallen in love with; including this gorgeous rosette rug and playful bird art print from LD Shoppe. It set the tone for the entire space and I quickly began pulling together muted, natural and textural elements… like an oversized waffle blanket, muslin crib sheet, boucle ottoman and beaded chandelier.
Pattern combinations can bring tons of visual interest to a space. I opted for a more subtle mix for this nursery with a textured dusty pink pillow paired with a golden and cream bird cushion. A bold pinstripe pillow adds depth and contrast against a dainty blue floral pattern and a few pink soft toys add a sweet feminine touch.
What’s a nursery without stellar furniture? This dresser and crib combo from Crate & Kids adds the perfect touch of sophistication with pops of antique brass alongside a gold floor lamp and geometric mobile. Since I love mixing metals we decided to go with a black curtain rod to tie-in some of the bolder elements in the room, as seen in the black metal mirror and framed art print. Finally, to soften things up just a smidge we sourced a wooden side table and I love the warmth it adds while complementing the warm creamy tones in the space.
I absolutely love how this nursery turned out; it feels playful yet mature, minimal yet layered and brings such a deep sense of calm. It’s like skipping through a field of wild flowers on a cool summer’s night! When a space evokes such a clear picture and makes you feel something so real… well that’s the cherry on top.

Peter Pan & Greenery Nursery

Peter Pan was my favorite movie growing up, so I always knew that my first baby would have a Peter Pan-themed nursery. At our 20-week anatomy scan, we found out our baby had a congenital heart defect that would require open heart surgery in the first week of life. The nursery became my “happy place” where I could do something productive with my anxious energy and be excited for our baby despite the challenges we had ahead of us. We didn’t find out what we were having, so I kept it gender-neutral and used greenery/wood decor, which was loosely inspired by the “Lost Boys Hideout.” My favorite part is the vintage Peter Pan book collection that I acquired throughout my pregnancy through various thrift book websites; one of the books dates back to 1911. The other accent pieces were made by myself, a talented carpenter friend, or various Etsy shop owners. The leaf wall decals were purchased from an Etsy shop that makes beautiful watercolor decals. One of my favorite pieces of furniture is the tree stump storage ottoman that holds our baby’s stuffed animals. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Dollhouse Renovation

I found a dollhouse for sale by an owner who hand made it. The bones of the structure were so strong and beautiful but the aesthetic of it was not my favorite so I decided to buy it and completely redo it! I used Benjamin Moore neutral paints and floral wallpaper after sanding it down. Now it’s a beautiful, neutral, girly little dollhouse for my daughter who is starting to grow her Maileg mice doll collection!

Moroccan Boho Vibes

I knew I wanted a feature wall, the color was selected from a Pinterest pallet I saw. But the original thought of yellow was too bright. So we went with a Tumeric Yellow which reminded me of Morocco and my husband and I’s honeymoon there. From there, the colors seemed to easily build on one another with the crib being the second primary feature. I incorporated hand made woven baskets from Zimbabwe and added the changing basket from project nursery to round out the look.

Gone Bananas Birthday Party

We’ve gone bananas! Lea turned 7 and was so excited to finally be able to have a party with her friends and regain some childhood normalcy. She also just finished in person school which given what’s been going on was huge for the kids. When I asked her what theme she wanted she said ” I just want to go bananas” and so our banana theme was born. I wanted to create a stunning yellow vintage banana concept. With the help of my secret weapon, 3 little birds who burned the midnight oil painting every piece in different shades of yellow, I was able to achieve that.

The stunner’s were definitely the vintage chairs that we hand selected and painted to resemble an ombre shades of yellow. We maintained the ombre concept with the tableware and the desserts. The table stunned everyone. I had never seen such a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The bright yellows were so perfect for this summer frontyard party. Each touch was thought out from the banana placecards done by Anne Jones to the banana stir sticks by Creative Amme. The banana cake and mini donuts were the cutest thing we’ve ever seen. Janice Wong just gets it. She also bring the vision to life with her beautiful and modern looking desserts.

The kids jumped around in a pastel yellow bounce house from Bounce Couture that was ballooned to keep up with the ombre concept by Shana Sharp of Sharp Balloons. Lea had an amazing time and so did her friends. It was so nice to see so much joy in their faces. The kids went home with cookies from Doughy Dogs and custom tote bags.
