Designed this nursery for our 1st baby…and IT’S A GIRL! I wanted a traditional, vintage style that creates a soothing atmosphere. I wanted to include DIY pieces that would add a personal touch mixed with new pieces to fit the vision for a unique and comforting nursery :)
It was a super fun experience! I started with the design of the camper and after that all the other elements just kept on flowing. The camper was set up in the family room with the tree and the camp fire made from rocks, branches, tissue paper and a flashlight. We also had some stars on the ceiling for our “movie under the stars” – “Curious George Goes Camping”. As for other activities the kids truly enjoyed playing in the camper and we also did a fish pond game and some craft activities (camper coloring sheets, coloring bird feeders and rock & twig figures). The favors for kids were “Curious George Goes Camping” books and twig coloring pencils.

Remember that initial excitement of moving the playhouse into the playroom last year? We would “cook” and pretend in there for hours. Sadly, as with most new toys for our children, the novelty wore off. LOL Surpise Dolls were taking over and the playhouse was all but forgotten. I don’t know about you, but I can only play with those little plastic dolls for so long before I start to lose my mind. I started thinking, how can I put the “fun” back into the playroom? And here’s the real trick, without spending a dime doing it. It hit me! When I was a kid I loved to rearrange my furniture, toys…EVERYTHING really. It’s so silly how something as simple as moving an object to a different location can give it life again and make it seem new. I put on my “moving” clothes and got to work. Everything in the room was kept the same or repurposed in some way. I decided to create a Cafe space and add little menu’s in the frames I already had. The Playhouse is no longer the focal point in the room, but as Brennan from Stepbrothers said, “It will give us so much extra space to do activities!”

We were ecstatic to find out we were having a girl! I loved the soft look of pink and gray together and felt it was a perfect combination for a sweet baby girl’s room!
This is the nursery that I designed for my beautiful baby girl, Mirra. She loves the bright colors and we hang out in the room all the time! Almost all of the art is DIY including the crib set!
A classic nursery that combines both nautical & travel inspired elements. Not wanting anything too theme specific, we incorporated coastal & travel components into one cohesive nursery using muted shades of blue and gray, natural wood tones, & mixed metals.
My husband and I share a passion for climbing and being outdoors, and we knew from the beginning that we wanted to incorporate those two things into the nursery. I began planning for the theme before we knew the gender of the baby, so I wanted most of the decorations to remain gender neutral but bringing in feminine/masculine colors once we found out. We were elated to find out that we were having a girl!
The room is quite small, only 10×10, but I’m glad we were able to get all the essential furniture in there.
We are expecting baby no. 2, and wanted the baby’s room to also function as a secondary play zone for both kids.
We moved into a house with a formal living room on the main floor that we decided to turn into a playroom for our son. (We have a large family room open to the kitchen that functions as our main living space.) The playroom has been a work in progress and continues to change as he grows.
In preparation for a little brother, we moved our two girls into a shared room. Because I had just created this nursery for our second daughter only 20 months prior and loved my stenciled wall, I kept many elements of the room the same, and just added some “big girl” touches.

I chose the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star theme because it’s one of Layla’s favorite lullabies, and we often refer to her as our little star.

I think every single mom gets crazy about her first child. Guess what would be the prettiest room in the whole house… Of course “The Nursery”. And I was there, to make all my sister’s wishes come true. Painting, sewing, installing, etc. I loved it… Don’t you?

In searching for inspiration for Kaiven’s room, I found that most boy nurseries felt like an extension of the mom – Just another room for her – I wanted this space nursery to be for him and not for me. I also wanted the space to be able to grow with him.
Liesl absolutely LOVES animals, so we decided that a Wild African Safari would be the perfect theme for her 5th birthday. Her only request was “live animals”, and we found a great non-profit to give the party goers a fun and and education exotic animal show and Liesl was their special assistant.
