I wanted to do a 1st birthday party without getting too stuck in a theme. Everyone comments on how Happy my son is all the time so I decided to do a Mr. Happy character theme by Roger Hargreaves. It turned out perfectly! My son even had a Mr. Happy onesie to wear!
A fairly simple nursery using some of my favorite colors.
Turning the dining room into a playroom….not yet finished.
My friends requested that I help them convert their spare room into a nursery while also keeping its function as a guest room. They had already purchased most of the major furniture so I just had to add a few extra pieces and create a cohesive design. Please enjoy my inspiration board! A Dr. Seuss inspired theme birthday, it’s a toss up who had more fun wsith this party – the momma creating it or the birthday boy himself!
Gracie is finally turning 1! For her first birthday I wanted to steer away from the usually cartoon inspried birthdays and instead do something a little more unexpected. Thats why on Jan.29 everyone will be joining us to celebrate her birthday at her Enchanted Garden.
For my little man, I was def. not into sailboats and sesame street” for his first birthday party. He is all boy and loves trucks and to get dirty so nothing would suit him better than a construction themed birthday party.
Baby Olivia’s room is a tiny Canadian nursery in Shanghai. The ‘Roots & Wings’ owl canvas is a gift painted by mama. A little ‘Woodlands’ felt mobile hangs over the crib, while the initials of baby’s name are teamed with tiny animals & paper lanterns spin over the change table.

Fun playful room with lots of color and on a budget!
A gray and white striped elephant themed nursery that’s upbeat and happy.
A fun, bright, easy to use playroom that used to be mom and dad’s home office.
We had decided to let our daughters gender be a suprise, so we tried to design a gender neutral room around a color my husband and I both liked and a “Snoopy” theme. Our daughter Ruby arrived on her due date – October 12, 2010!
Located in the heart of New York City, the room was previously used as a movie theater man cave with dark walls, and leather sofas. Transformed to a nursery for twin girls, the space is focused around modern clean lines with a youthful girly touch. Being that the setting of the space is very urban with skyscrapers seen in the windows, we wanted to give the girls a nature themed environment in contradiction with the urban oasis seen outside. With owls being all the rave, we had a muralist paint a streamline tree with flying birds and a pair of owls to represent each child. The room was divided in half for function. On one side of the room, there are two lacquer and ebony cribs by David Netto as well as a conveniently located changing station. Above the cribs are three brightly colored floating butterflies from the Land of Nod, and a mural to tie theme (Nature in the City) of the space together. On the other side of the room, we created a custom built in shelving unit with a horizontally laying murphy bed from Manhattan Cabinetry. When the bed is put away, exposed is a turquoise blue chalkboard for the girl’s art studio. When the nanny is there, the bed pulls out from the wall, and a daybed with dimmer lighting gives access as a bed as well as a sofa for movie nights.
This is a fairly simple nursery. I was hoping to avoid a lot of clutter on the walls and such. The initial idea was to paint stripes on all four walls, but my wife felt it was to much, so we decided on a mural for the big wall. When we looked on etsy.com and went with a monkey mural to match his bedding. The crib and dresser are Baby Cache’ from Babies R’ us. His little chairs are from Pottery Barn.
This is our first little boy and we designed his Loft nursery to go with our downtown urban theme.
I started gathering items for my son’s room before I even knew he was going to be a boy. I wanted a room that was clean, modern, yet eclectic and original. I feel like my husband and I have done just that, and we both enjoy spending time in the nursery even though our son isn’t here yet.
We wanted to create a calm, neutral-colored environment for our son’s nursery. The bird theme was inspired by a pillow that I found at a specialty store, as well as the vintage bird prints.
