Noah’s Minion Rush 5th Birthday Party

Description

my oldest son's fifth birthday party...inspired by his favorite movie, "despicable me!" the party invitees included family and lots of friends (young + older too!)

Design Inspiration

i love doing parties (and decor) in bright colors, so the palette from the movie was perfect for me with the bold yellow, blue and orange. besides color, i was inspired by all of my son's minion toys, and wanted to make them as much a part of the party as possible!

Decorating Style

i love designing and making most of the decor for children's parties! bright colors, lots of decoration = fun!

Project Details

two-layer polka dot cake: polka dot bakery, sycamore, illinois

shrunken moon cake pops: sugar grubbin', sycamore, illinois

noah's candy bar: banner by re-nest studio; dum dum topiaries by re-nest studio; candy from oriental trading; minion treat bags by re-nest studio

watermelon monster minion (with fruit salad): inspired by pinterest pinner; made by me

cookie robot with led light-up lego helmet: handmade by noah's dad

toilet brush unicorn: handmade by me; materials used: one toilet brush, one sugar cone, one ping pong ball, one sharpie marker (black), two googly eyes, one glue gun

water bottle labels: from SIVcreations on etsy

Favorite Items

i loved the addition of the cookie robot...noah's dad worked right up until ten minutes before the party to perfect it, and it was such a unique detail that really added to the table setting! i also loved making the watermelon monster minion...it was a talked about part of the party!

Advice

"despicable me" toys that my son already had were my best friend...not only for inspiration, but also for decor! all of the decorations (banners, tablecloths, cups, etc.) were basic colors and patterns, and the toys were what made this a "despicable me" party!
