New Years Party DIY

Description

We were recently inspired to do a New Years eve party editorial and wanted to make a fun and easy DIY project to go with it so we made a clock pinata! Perfect for ringing in 2012 (or bring in 2012 with a "bang" ha!)

Design Inspiration

We wanted to make it an easy project that could be made using things found around the house or that is easy to recycle!

Decorating Style

Gold was a big color in the theme since its such a festive color .

Project Details

The project was for Babiekins Magazine by Heather Rome Items used were • two 12” round cardboard pieces {I used cake circles by wilton} • strip of cardboard 46” long and 4” wide { the strip of cardboard will be slightly longer than the circumference of the circles so that you can glue the flap down after filling the piñata • masking tape • white tissue paper with metallic dots • tan kraft paper • die cut numbers 3, 6, 9, 12 and two arrows for hands • white glue • scissors • confetti and treats to fill pinata   Instructions: Step 1 :: Tape 45” long by 4” wide strip of cardboard sandwiched between the two round circles. Leave a flap/opening to fill piñata with treats and confetti.   Step 2 :: Cut enough 4” wide by 2” long strips of kraft paper to cover the sides of the clock. Cut fringe into paper then glue onto sides overlapping the last piece you applied.   Step 3 :: Cut enough 12” wide by 2” long strips of white tissue paper to cover the front and back of the clock. Cut fringe then glue onto the front and the back the same as the sides. Trim around the circle to make even.   Step 4 :: Glue numbers and hands onto the face of the clock. Step 5 :: Fill piñata with treats and confetti. Step 6 :: Whack away and wait for treats and confetti to fall! Step 7 :: Scramble all over the floor and grab all the treats you can!
