A Neutral Princess Nursery

Description

This is our nursery for our very first baby girl. The largest pieces are neutral with pops of coral added for interest. The overall mood of the nursery is light, airy, and very princess-ey.

Design Inspiration

The inspiration started with my love of neutrals and desire to avoid pink. Everything but the rug was either given to us specifically for this baby or re-purposed from pieces we already had. Of course, there was also some pinterest-scouring for white nurseries.

Decorating Style

I love love love all things neutral. Baby A's nursery and my own bedroom are my favorite places in our home because there is so much white!

Project Details

The canopy above the crib started as a mosquito net that was then gathered up to drape just right. The crib was a gift from a grandmother. The armoire is an old china cabinet given to us when my husband was in graduate school. I removed the shelves from the top and added a hanging rod in there for her dresses. The dresser was also given to us years before baby A was born. My husband stripped it and we repainted it the same white as the armoire. The curtains are actually shower curtains. You can read all the details about the project here.

Favorite Items

My absolute favorite would have to be the canopy over her bed. I wanted so badly for her room to be fit for a princess! I adore the way it turned out with the wispy draping and the textured white paper lanterns we used as a "mobile."

Advice

When in doubt, choose white. White always looks so fresh and is perfect for an innocent child's room.
