I'm a first time mom and nursery decorator. I wasn't super impressed with the "boy-themed rooms in a box" options so I created my own design inspiration.
Design Inspiration:
Since we live so close to the water, I wanted to draw inspiration from the beach and boating lifestyle that is already so much apart of our home.
Decorating Style:
For me, kids room all about color and stimulation. I want to like it as much as they do. It was also important that I stay on budget and use pieces that will transfer well into a toddler room.
Project Details:
Crib: Wal-Mart (Graco, $149)
Dresser: Ikea ($299)
Rug: Dash and Albert rug company ($99)
Chair: Buybuybaby.com ($599)
Curtains/Bedding: Custom made by mom :)
Lifesaver pillow: Land of Nod ($29)
Flags: Land of Nod ($29)
Green lamps: Target ($19)
Orr & Nautical Accessories: Home Goods ($75)
Favorite Items:
Crib sheets are my most favorite because they zip on and off- best invention ever!!: Clouds and Starts $32 for starter kit
Advice:
You can spend as much or as little as you like, I just opted to pay less. And after 14 months, I still love as much as I did on day 1.

Hi Pam!! My mom actually custom made the curtains and I believe she bought all her supplies at Jo-Ann’s Fabrics. The panels alter both white and navy denim and then lined with black-out material so its nice and dark for nap time :) We later found similar curtains at Pottery Barn for half the price it cost to custom design the curtains…wah, wah.
