Description

The latest project from Lilli Design is this modern nursery featuring overscaled grey & white stripes. This nursery design was created to be gender neutral and has such a light, airy feel. We love the client's colorful touches around the room. Turquoise & black patterned bedding is fun and unexpected- and shows a great mix of modern and traditional patterns!

Design Inspiration

This nursery was concepted by our client and we were there to make sure her vision was carried out to perfection. The striped walls were the driving inspiration behind everything in the room- she wanted to keep it gender neutral, fresh, and airy.

Decorating Style

Modern, chic, sophisticated, timeless, classic

Project Details

I hired a professional painter/muralist to create the dramatic 12" stripes. Painting tonal stripes creates a beautiful effect but if you attempt to do it yourself, the key is in the prepwork- use professional painter's tape and a level and make sure you get a good seal so the edges are straight and don't bleed. The furniture is from Bratt Decor, and the rug is Dash & Albert.

Favorite Items

It's a tie- I love love love the rug! It's so modern and would work in any room of the house. And the chandelier is the same way- so unexpected for a nursery but it really works.

Advice

Forget the accent wall- go bold and create a dramatic effect all the way around the room! With the right colors (tonal) and proportions (large scale so it doesn't look too busy) you can make it work. Check out www.Lilli-design.com for more design inspiration!

I love your nursery! I have been wanting to use grey, black and turquoise as my colors for my nursery! Where is the crib sheet set from? I have not been able to find turquoise paired with black for bedding!! Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for the great feedback! The crib bedding set was custom made using three different fabrics. For this color combination I would suggest doing custom bedding- you can find the fabrics used here on Quilthome.com. Good luck!

Great work on this room.  I think the addition of that chandelier is perfect, without it, this room would have been rather drab!

Love your nursery!!  The chandelier totally finishes the room.  We are looking for a similar style chandelier.  Where did you find it??

We used Benjamin Moore Natura (Low VOC Paint) in Wedding Veil (the white) and Sweet Innocence (the grey/blue).  Chandelier was found at Z Gallerie.
