When we found out we were having a boy we started brainstorming what we wanted his nursery to look like. We liked the idea of an outdoor themed nursery but didn't want it to look too campy or too rustic so we decided to design a modern outdoor themed nursery.
We chose to use a neutral color pallet of blacks, whites and grays and add in color through the fox decor pieces and the whimsical elements in the reading nook tent we built.
Our favorite element is the large chalkboard wall where Brent drew a mountain landscape. Above the crib hangs a mobile that we custom made to hide our baby camera in the wood slice. He built our changing table to match the crib and added customized doors to store all of our diaper changing necessities including the diaper pail.
The room doesn't have a closet so we built our own vertical clothes rack out of dowel rods and attached baskets to store baby clothes. The reading nook includes a large tent structure that we built as well as bookshelves on the wall.
We are so happy with how his fun and whimsical outdoor nursery turned out. The design will be able to easily adapt as he grows and we hope it makes him feel as if he has been transformed to another place as he plays, reads, and sleeps.
